Not sure how I got sucked into this project, but I've got 3 xbox's to chip and 4 chips to work with.

1.0 (chip1) & 1.4 (chip2)
used flashbios 3.01 to flash X3_3294 bios via http
I can boot to the MS Dash (long power button), or the x3 dash (short press)
I can put in game disks, repower w/ chip active & play.

I haven't tried to ftp into these xboxes since I flashed; although I'm planning to do tonight to install EvolutionX build 3935.

1.6b (chip3)
used flashbios 3.03 (off on off off) to flash X3-3294 bios via http
I can boot to MS Dash or x3 dash
I put game disks in and cannot get any to play w/ chip active.

I've fiddled w/ the network settings to try to flashftp into the xbox (using x3/x3 user/password). I know I'm attempting to connect to the xbox 'cuz I"m being prompted for user/password (in IE), but user/pwd won't take & I ultimately get 401 permission denied error. (Obviously can't cx. via flashfxp either.)

I took chip3 out and put in a chip4. Takes me to the flashbios 3.03 screen. I turned off xbox at that point w/o flashing. I'm afraid I'll wind up in the same boat as chip3.

Should I be able to ftp into chip3's xbox via above? SHould chip3's xbox play games w/ chip active? (Just reboots to x3 bios w/ game in dvd tray.)

If I can ftp into chip1 or chip2's xbox, I'll verify the network settings there to see if anything is different w/ chip3's xbox.

Is this behavior common? Anyone see anything wrong w/ my plan of attack?

Thanx so much for any discussion that results from this thread...-Ken

Further thoughts

On chip 3; perhaps I flashed it with X3_3294.bin and not X3_3292v16plus.bin...or perhaps I flashed it with the v16plus.bin version when I shouldn't have...

I was sure I had a 1.6b (based off pictures of chips on m.board) - although I've been reading lots of people mis-ID their xbox's...

I'm just concerned about
a) not being able to play any games when chip is active; and
b) not being able to ftp into the box
c) If I reflash my 4th chip on 1.6b box that I'll be in the exact same boat I'm in now.

Sorry for length...-K

Ok Let's take one problem at at time

First FTP

Use FlashFXP for an FTP client you will get much better results then IE
IE gets kind of flaky as an FTP client

Try flashfxp

I have tried flashfxp w/o success. (I used IE and when I http://19#.#.##.##) to the IP on the x3 bios settings screen, I get prompted for username/password.

In any event - I'm at work now and won't be able to work on it 'til I get home.

After reading tons of threads on here, I think I need to set my x3 settings back to default and then toggle the disable boot from cd to enabled/disabled (whichever one works).

I also plan on trying to flashfxp to the 1.0 &/or 1.4 xbox's (that are working) - and if it does work, I'll canibalize the settings from those boxes to the 1.6 box.

That's my plan as of now...thanx for the reply!

OK - I'm all good to go.
1) Reloading (resetting) the 1.6b X3 chip to defaults allowed the X3 bios to play games.

2) As far as ftping goes - I was able to ftp into all the xbox's - but only for a minute or two after the xbox was 1st turned on. That's all the time I needed to do what I needed to do...

On the 1.0 xbox; I was connected via flashfxp and had ftp'd some files over. I turned away for a few minutes and when I went back to flashfxp, I had not only lost the cx., I couldn't re-connect unless I re-set the xbox.

Glad to be done!.

Sounds like you may have had confilcting IP addresses (More than one PC having the same IP address) when you were trying the FTP sessions
