x3ce on v1.6b box... no more x3conf-live...

already searched forums.... issue seems to be unique to me....

here is what has happened (cliff notes)

1) installed / soldered x3ce to mobo / did lcb rebuild. WAS SUCCESSFULL.
both 5v and 3.3v are blue, flash protect was off (red), all hd/lan leds function properly.

2) loaded Bios 2914 (banks 1234), it said programming failed but when i rebooted it went to x3conf, write protected chip, upgraded HD (250g), installed XBMC, MXM, Avalaunch, backed up all games/mp3s to xbmc. ALL WAS WELL....

3) was playing around with settings on x3 conf live, went to skins and tried to download one. box froze. clock froze, system was unresponsive, lan was flashing, left it for 10 minutes, still frozen. rebooted, FRAG on reboot.

4) able to boot unmodded to MS dash. tried rescue mode on x3 (unwriteprotect). worked, reflashed, box shutdown, when i reboot, FRAG....

5) check all solder joints and they look good. had a professional solder / electronics tech evaluate them at my work as well..... solder seems good....

6) i saw i was running flashbios 3.0.1 and noticed some folks had issue with that on v1.6b so i tried to flash 3.0.3 but when i reboot FRAG... rescue mode remains 3.0.1...

what do i try next? any thoughts???

yeah, simple. You didn't look hard enough. There was a post about dl skins freezing xboxes (it's a bug) so you need to delete certain file in your skins folder (I can't remember off my head but I'll look for it).

Second, you have to lock your hd in order for you to boot with modchip disabled. You can lock it within X3 config live or flashbios.

by the way, I think you may have to dl bios 1959 and install it to your other 1mb bank (banks 5678 I suppose with switch off on off off off). This way, you can ftp in and delete the file you need to delete.

thanks for the quick response....

i have also tried flashing 2913 and evox with no luck... neither 'new' bios seems to take hold....

if i cannot ftp in will i have to pull out the hd and manually insert it in my pc to edit those skin files?
