I modded my v1.6 xbox a few months ago and was able to flash v3108 bios to banks 1-4 via HTTP. It works just fine. I will say I wish I had done this sooner, It was no where near as tough as I thought and the added features are great.
I wanted to update to the latest bios version and thought that it would be good if I updated banks 5-8 so that if there were problems I could go back to banks 1-4.
I first tried just booting to bank 2 (switch 2 on) and I get no video and a orange led. I went back to bank 1 (all switches off) and everything works fine. Should there be something in Bank 2 already ?. Could it be that there is a version there that is having issues with my 1.6 box ?.
I'm just looking for a confirmation here that if I boot to x3 config live on bank 1 (switches all off) and goto the Bios tools to enable HTTP flashing I can then change the switches at the flash bios screen to SW2 ON and flash Bank 2 with v3294.
Then when I boot in the future I just need to make sure SW2 is ON so that I boot to the second bank. If I have problems I can always flip all switches off and go back to the working v3108.
Correct ?
