:) I am not only a noob, but a bit of a techtard compared to some of you guys. but i believe this might be helpful and important to anyone with a x3ce chip and a x3 control panel that is having bios flash problems! I have been driving myself nuts for weeks trying to flash my chip. I have read all the tutorials and any forum posting i could find. here is what i found: my x3 chip says red is protected and green unprotected. I believe this is backwards, correct? I have also read that your chip will not flash regardless of the control panel switch setting if the chip is set to "protected". I finally got a good flash by setting the chip switch so that the red led is on AND the control panel switch is set to green, that is supposed to be the protected position, right? have I stumbled onto something, or am i just a techtarded noob that finally figured out what everybody else already knows?

Some chips did have the wrong printing on them, as youve just experienced. Its my belief however that both protect led's (the one on the switch and the one on the chip) will always be the same colour. If you notice, change the switch on your external switch and you can watch the led on the chip itself change also.

Just FYI :)

Mine may be the exception, but it did not work that way. I tried many times to flash with the chip set to protect and switch to protect, chip set to unprotect and switch to unprotect, then went to mixing them. the only way i got it to flash is with the chip showing a red led and the switch showing green!
