X3CP and IR....

To those that know....

Can someone give us a difinitive answer as to the what/where/when/why/how of IR and X3CP will be. If it's this close to delivery, there has to be some decisions already made???

Will there be IR supplied with the X3CP?
Will there be no IR, but a suggested alternative?
Will there be some IR mod forthcoming from Xecuter for X3CP that we should wait on?

For those of us that also use our XB as a media center, I gotta believe that we're all looking for the remote power-on functionality, I know I am. I don't want some half-assed controller button hack that looks awful and requires me to have a controller plugged in and dangling off my XB, when I mainly want to use the remote to power and control the unit.

I did do some searching and saw the xir. Is this Xecuter's answer to IR?

I just want to know. I don't want to be a PITA about it. If Xecuter has something under wraps, just let on. I waited forever for the X3 and now that it's out it ROX as expected!!! Then they announced and showed the X3CP. So it's gonna ROK my BOX as well. I don't mind waiting for the announced stuff as they're gonna deliver when they deliver. But I've heard nothing about the IR and will wait patiently if they have something good on the horizon. Just let on a little.

Hanx!

Unable to read nand to uncripple console

I have been trying to uncripple my console but I can't seem to get NandPro 2.0b to detect and read my console's NAND. I've tried two different computers (one with Win 98 and the other with Win XP), removing the diode, changing up my PC's setting, etc. I've double checked to make sure all my connections are good but nothing seems to work. Below are some pictures of my setup:

At the moment I have everything hooked up as it tells me here - I am using a 300MA 100V DO-35 1N914B-10 diode (not sure what all the mean but the diode should be okay). Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Use an infectus to do a full dump on the nand. Things will work better that way.

Double check that you have the RJ45 plugs wired up correctly, as it's very easy to wire them backwards. Match wire colors, and to be absolutely sure, check continuity from the pins of the DB25 plug to the motherboard using a multimeter.

...does this work if you got banned in the last ban wave? I always thought this process was the jtag hack, and I thought that was impossible, but correct me if I'm wrong? I'd like to do this if possible!

Re: Unable to read nand to uncripple console

You can read and write your nand on any 360. You can only use the exploit to boot unsigned code, however, if you're on a pre-8xxx dash and have an exploitable CB version.

If you've connected to Live at any point since August 11th, 2009, your 360 has been updated to an 8xxx dash, and is unexploitable.

If your 360 has a pre-8xxx dash, but was manufactured or repaired by MS after May 2009, it may have an updated, unexploitable CB. The only way to check the CB version is to read the nand.

The CB is not downgradeable. The dash is only downgradeable on exploitable consoles, in which case there's no need to downgrade.

Very helpful! Thankyou! :)

Re: Unable to read nand to uncripple console

ok i've read my nand, did 4 to make sure ans all were good. all i want to do is get the key from the console so stick another drive in it coz i messed up the orig b4 extracting the key. i've done the jtag connections and things went a little wrong after that. i'm not sure if i've erased the nand but when i try now all i get is errors and the same if i try to re read it, errors all the way. i'm trying to write the orig nand back to it but it says 'couldn't open orig.bin for read'.

i've extracted the raw kv and raw config from the orig, would this be why ? but i'm unable to write the xbr or the xell to the nand either ....

any suggestions ...? ta

Re: Unable to read nand to uncripple console

Thanks for the suggestions guys but still, nothings working. The cable is as short as I can make it and I triple checked to make sure all the wires are in the right place and that there are no short circuits or anything. The LPT settings are all correct in the BIOS (it's enabled and set to SPP/Normal mode) for both the computers I'm trying this on. I've tried it with resistors and diode, no resistors and diode, and no resistors and no diode for both computers. I have the 360 hooked up to my outlet and the video cable plugged in (but not connected to a TV or monitor) - I've tried it with the 360 turned on and also turned off (even though it shouldn't make a difference). Also, when the diode is hooked up, it's at the 360 motherboard end, not the DB25 female end, as recommended. When trying to read my NAND NandPro cannot detect my flash. I've ready somewhere that I need a really old PC with Windows XP on it for it to detect the 360 through LPT port - however, one of the PCs I'm using is really old and has Windows 98 on it - I'm going to reformat the HDD for it and put XP in it and see if that works.

And don't hijack this thread and start talking about the jtag hack, just make a new topic.

Re: Unable to read nand to uncripple console

sorry m8 was just a passing question no offense meant. i've found that with my new pc it wont work but on my old dell with xp and it sees it fine. i think i'm having trouble with my wiring but looks like you've covered all aspects of that ! lol

i've found sometimes its best to stick with one formula for a while coz it doesn't always come good straight away. double check everything b4 you start and during the process, it's amazing what can be missed if you keep changing things around and coz you concentrate on the new thing rather then the basics.

hope it works out for you twinbird :) i think i'm going to through my naffed one out the window ! lol

I did mine on new pc with vista . I think nand pro has a driver you need to install .

Re: Unable to read nand to uncripple console

Try other LPT modes as well. Keep in mind that if everything's wired right, the 360 won't power on while plugged into the PC. Also, double check that the DB25 plug is wired correctly, as it's also very easy to wire backwards. It looks right from your pictures, but I'm not completely sure.

When you checked continuity, did you test from the DB25 pins to the top or the bottom of the motherboard? If you checked on top, you may have missed any bad connections between the mobo and the cable. You can check that, of course, by testing on the bottom.

I'm not really sure what else you can do, beyond that.

Re: Unable to read nand to uncripple console

Yes, thanks for the advice everyone. I have the driver that came with NandPro properly installed (just double clicked on the executable and it was done). I forgot to test the wires for continuity - I'll make sure to try that (I might just make a straight connection to the DB25 plug and ditch the CAT5 patch cables). Also, when you say try different LPT modes, what exactly do you mean? In the readme for NandPro it says LPT should be enabled and in SPP / Normal mode (which is what it's at). I've tried changing other setting but they make no difference.

The Xbox 360 doesn't turn on when I have it hooked up; so that part is good. Do I need to have the ring of light PCP plugged in though?

@ hyspin: I'm not offended, I just didn't want my question to be lost with a bunch of other questions and left unanswered. And I was just saying you would have a much better chance of getting your questions answered if you made a new topic anyways.

Re: Unable to read nand to uncripple console

after being successful in the 1st stages i've been having similar problems of my nand being recognized or my.bins recognized etc so thought there maybe some useful pointers in here and the one about checking connections from under the board, hopefully, will be useful when i get round to looking.

most people i know have ditched their cat5 cables and had luck but mine worked with but now doesn't work without but as i said this is probs my wiring. i'm not too sure about changing lpt modes so i'm i'm gunna shh :)
