X3LCD colour difference across the screen

I just got my XLCD and while I've been testing it out I've noticed that an area in the top right on the display has a purple tinge to it. I understand that there is going to be a slight difference in colour due to the backlight LEDs at either end but this is not consistent with that change.
I don't have much/any experience of using LCDs so I'm just wondering if this is normal?

I tried taking a photo but it doesn't show up.
This is mostly on the top row, with the most affected cell being 5th from the right.
In total it is noticeable from about the 8/9th column from the right, to the right hand side, and on the top two rows.

Contrast is set to max (contrast wheel turned towards the back of the xbox case) and brightness is set to max in X3cl.

This isn't causing me a problem but I want to make sure that the LCD isn't going to die on me sometime after I've installed it in my case.

Apart from that I'm more than pleased with the build quality, the clarity and the brightness/contrast of the display (and not having to solder)
Good work TeamXecuter :D

Far from here!
Most likely something is pressing against it. Or it was pressed before you installed it. Mine did the same thing but I noticed right away and it is gone. So check behind it.

Thanks, I've checked but there doesn't look like anything pressing on it from the back, and nothing at the front. I'll just give it some time and see if it changes.

It doesn't change the purple area (but thanks for the tip)
I've looked at the LCD when it's off and the area is still noticeable - Gonna email BaldBouncer about it and see what they think!

hey bro, i have noticed the exact same thing about my XLCD! I was just about to make a topic about this also, it does look like there is somewhat of a purple tint towards the top right corner. It must just be normal or we both got defective XLCDs! lol, reply with with baldbouncer says about it, i got mine from chipdealer

Hi,
you have 2 adjustments for it, one in the X3 live config and the wheel on the chip, the pictures you show are normal for the screen but you do need to make sure the edge is well covered/sealed or you will get light leaking which the purple I think you are talking about although it seems to look fine to me considering it's out of the case.

Speedy response... so it's not gonna die on me, I'll get on with hacking up my case :)

Expect pics in a new thread soon!

Magnetic fields (dunno exactly from where, depends how/where you have the LCD mounted) could affect it also.

Mine is the exact same way. Looks the same whether it's mounted or just hanging loose. Then again my LCD doesn't work at all and it's being sent back for a replacement. My screen lights up but no text appears. Waiting for my replacement to come in the mail.

I think the magnetic fields excuse is BS.

LCDs are more affected by:
1. Pressure on the screen causing the LCD to sort of "squish" a little. Remember that the L in LCD stand for Liquid.
2. Light bleeding at the edges. I have seen some people in other forums that use LCDs run a sharpie marker along the edge of the screen to help stop some of this. Electrical tape also works and is less permanent in case that ISN'T the problem.
3. Temperatures. Both in storage (shipping) and installed. Again, remember what the "L" stands for.

If you want to bug bust what the problem is, try thinking it through - where did you buy the LCD, how was it shipped, how was it packed, any distinguishing serial numbers that might ID a batch, etc.

Rather than taking pot shots and blaming the LCD, try to figure out what is in common, then work backwards.

Good points. My first thought was that it might be to do with how close it was to the hdd, but moving it didnt make any difference.
Since installing there's no difference so I dont think it's much to do with light bleeding (also, the colour would be even along a whole edge wouldn't it?)
There's nothing pressing on it and it's been at room temperature now for long enough to have settled.
I figure that it's either just an anomoly, or that some colour difference is to be expected on these LCDs. Either way, it's not affecting my screen so I'll probably just forget about it!

Re: boot disk

yes flash the drive the same way
the difference is that LT is not detectable over live at the moment anyway!
also it dont care about wave or stealth from a game so if you intend on playing on live make sure the games you backup are properly stealthed and verified with abgx360.
