Are DVD Keys usable without spoofing?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I cant find any answers to my question anywhere.

Are drive keys make specific, IE locked into being a key for a samsung or benq?

Or can a key extracted from a samsung be used in a liteon, without spoofing the liteon to act like a samsung?

if youre going to change the drive to a different model, you will need to spoof it to make it appear as the original drive. the xbox looks at a combination of that and the drive key
