Is there a making of Xapt3r in progress for 1.6 out there that will avoid this rebuild? Also, I was wondring, if I were to go to Best Buy or CompUSA, and randomly pick an XBOX, is there a good chance that it will be a 1.6, or can you still get 1.5 and ealrlier models out there? Thanks.

if it's new, 1.6 if you want a non 1.6 try to get a refurb. Yes there is a Xapt3r for 1.6 in the works, don't ask a release date cause no one knows yet.

My bad, I didnt catch where it said it would work, sorry about that.

If you read some of the posts about using the Xapt3r, you will notice some of them complain about moving the xbox and having to reset the chip etc. I would just go without the Xapt3r if I was you, the install really isnt that hard. If you dont feel secure enough with soldering, find someone that can do it for you.

I had read some place about them making a solderless solution for the 1.6, but I havent seen much more about it since.

Also, if you were to go out and buy a xbox now, you would most likely get a 1.6 or 1.6b. You can try to grab an older xbox from maybe a pawn shop or maybe ebay.
