I have installed the Xapt3r in a v1.1 Xbox . . . or rather not.

When powering up, it has 3 solid lit blue LED's plus a red one which flashes once and then goes out.

When the X3 is connceted to the adapter both voltage LED's are lit blue.
The X on the remote switches is lit red.

Any idea what the problem is ?

Thanks.

Happened to me as well but oddly enough it hasnt affected anything. Have you actually tried the chip on it?

Yes, the blue voltage LED's are lit, which would indicate all is well, but no FlashBios screen, just the usual MS dash.

Blues on red (Dzero) on with chip on the header and switched on = correct
Blues on red (Dzero) flash once with chip on header and switched off = correct
Blues on red (Dzero) flash once with no chip on the header = correct
Correct = correct lights and correct install as I have tested but I can't confirm if it would still give this indication if there was poor continuity so all I will confirm is how the lights should be.

So if my LED's are all fine, but I still get a Red X on the switch panel, what is best to check next ?

You are getting a red X on the exterior switch panel? If that is the case, you are holding the power button too long and are disabling the chip. Just tap the button, you should get a blue X and you should be off to the races...

Thanks pattherat, I gave that a go and its still not playing ball :(

Since then, I tried disconnecting all cables and checking them . . . big mistake, since then I just get one blue light on the chip, the one on the right, and no red-X on the front panel :(

A little more info, not sure how relevent. I have not used the HDD/LAN cable yet, and the the D0 point used is the underside point, linked with a wire to where the little gold prong 'used' to be :D It sprung off.

If I remove the Xapt3r the Xbox boots fine, so the D0 must still be okay.

Any ideas ?

The only thing I can think of is that you may not have identified D0 correctly. You have never been able to get the chip to boot right (X3, that is)?

The D0 is responsible for essentially choosing a bios to use through enabling/disabling the LPC. So if you don't have the D0 right (essentially the 'on' switch) that may be your issue.

Also, is there a particular reason you are not using the D0 topside?

Never got it to boot correctly.

I'm not using the topside D0 because the person who owns it attempted to install the Xapt3r and mashed the topside D0 hole, breaking the Xapt3r pin in the process. I fixed it with a solder pen and decided it was best to go with the underside point instead.

I checked the 3.3v and 5v voltages and it looks as if the chip is faulty as the 3.3v LED is no longer lit and its reading just 1v. I can see a slight burn on a trace on the chip near one of the resistors. Its going back to the shop.

Thanks for the help and advice, most appreciated.
