I take that back i turned out not being able to get it to sit right either but then i loosened it some (VERYVERYVERY slight) and pushed on side down. (after having melted the part touching the chip off) and it stayed.

Advice and Help - My PMT Probe Lite On drive / WITH PICS!

Hello all! i made its own thread since the other one was aout something else.

wrking on my PMT Probe the whole day gathering parts and all.

Parts used:
-50v 1f capacitor
-Sewing needle
-Original drive power cable
-18 awg wires

HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS:

a ) - will using a capacitor with a higher voltage rating affect the results from using this probe?

b ) - and on the drive power cable there are 5 wires only! and 6 connections, with the ones on top and bottom left being empty ( position 2 pegs aiming up). So will my ground still go to the third hole from left to right even though the first hole is empty? does same go for the 3.3v wire?

c ) - Does my soldering look bad? (i know pic isnt that good)

d ) - Does the schematic look right?

thnx in advance

use a 2.5v capacitor, don't risk it

[align=left]STOP -

Cap is no longer required

Here you have my latest version - NO CAPACITOR - Just a CK3 Probe body, a Long CK 3 cable, and a push to break switch(inline of 3.3v line).

Whatever you do - DONT CONNECT RED AND BROWN CABLE TO A SWITCH WITHOUT ALTERING WHERE THEY TERMINATE! - they are cut off the other end and spliced into 3.3v line!

This design allows the power cycling and probing all from the probe - One Handed
