I installed using the guide at http://www.gamingsanctum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1966

All went fine on the install and all seems to be ok, I Then tried to flash the bios (3029) from CD-RW, i followed the instuctions in the guide to create the disk, i booted the xbox Write Protect OFF, Bank switches on,on,off, off, off from the top, i then chose update bios from disk and inserted the disk, it reads the disk, picks up the bios and says flashing, the progress bar goes all the way to the top in YELLOW then starts back at the bottom in green (over writing the yellow) it get to about 25% then just stops, the eject button is flashing red and green the whole time, this is my first ever xbox modchip install and i really hope i'm missing something silly, i hope one of you people can help me out,

TIA

what xbox version do you have and what is the exact name of bios you are flashing to?

Edit: sorry just saw your title, doh!. Are you using X3 3029.bin as your bios?

if you look at the xapt3r, all 3 blue lights lite up as well as the d0 wire? If so, can you flash via http?

Once installed the Xapt3r lit all 3 lights blue and the red light flashed for a second then went off, i haven't tried flashing via http, i could try that, by the way, i ordered 2 chips and the other chip works exactly the same

ok,

Enabled DHCP on my router, connected to the XBOX, got the page, selected the BIOS, hit upload and flash, after about 30 seconds i got page cannot be displayed for address 192.168.254.5/0

The tv screen stayed the same (assigned dhcp ip address)

somethings up!?

disable dhcp. Set your PC ip to 192.168.0.2 or something like that except not 99. Reboot your PC and xbox to flashbios. When xbox reboots to flashbios, it will look for assigned ip but won't so it will default to 192.168.0.99.

Then on your PC, open up MS IE and type in: http://192.168.0.99. That should bring up flashbios. Use browse button to direct to X3_3029.bin. Your tv screen should show it starts flashing.

In the past this has happened to me, and has been one of two things. 1st is I didn't have the switches all the way over. (eg. I was flashing a 1mb bios into a 512kb bank) or I had a bad disk or download of the Bios.
Double check your switching and try a different bank Off,on,off, off, off. If no luck Delete the 3029 and go back to those special places and download agian.
Don't give up you are almost there.
Nice job.

Ok,

disabling dhcp changing the ip and subnet seemed to help, but it only got as far as the cd did, all the way with the yellow bar (which i guess is checking the image file) and then 25% of a green bar over the top, then it just stops.

the lights on the Xapt3r are 3 blues (solid) and i can see through the X3 a red(solid) light under the X3, the X3 itself has a single red (solid) light (to show flash protect is disabled)

any ideas

Appreciate your help on this!

Ok,

Tried with switches off,on,off, off, off, get the same thing, i have tried bioses from different sources and also an older version and still have the same problem, one thing i forgot to mention is that after the first failure i have had to boot off the backup bios (hold eject and power) to boot, when the bios starts to flash the purple light on the switchboard turns from purple to red then the eject button flashes red and green.

make sense?

it seems it has problem writing. DL another bios just to make sure the current one is not corrupted (though I doubt this is the problem). Second, you can try with your switches on [off on off off off] to see if that goes through.

downloaded another bios, same problem, i checked the D0 was making good contact, i bent the wire down and inserted it into the hole before i screwed the Xapt3r in, everything seems to be ok. i also screwed the whole thing back together so as to make sure it was getting a good ground, same problem though :(

sorry, was thinking out loud.

as far as i can tell from all the diagrams i've seen all the lights are working as they should be.

one thing i've noticed, after its hung, if i press the power button a little error message appears under the warning text, from what i can make out it says Programming failed: programing failed at byte +0x0004 or something similar

i uninstalled the X3 and Xapt3r, now all i get is service required, call customer services, have i screwed my xbox??
