Please help fitted xapter to version1.0 xbox
The xapter has one row with six pins the other with five. The base of the 2.6ce chip has two rows of eight holes with one blocked of.
What is the correct position of chip on xapter as i could position it on the left/middle or right ? Leaving two holes free I dont want to power up in case I damage chip/box
I have read the fitting guide and spent hours looking through posts but do not see the information (feeling quite stupid noob).
Would i be better of with wire install where the chip would marry up to connection perfectly only one way to do it due to missing pin/blocked hole
Many thanks del80y

I have read that all ready but still dont know what position to fit chip on xapter due to there being six pins and five pins compared to eight and seven on bottom of chip.
If i soldered on pin header to board or even the wire fit it can only fit one way due to the pins corresponding eight along and the missing /blocked hole.
I think ill just get the solder iron out and fit wire method and give xapter to my mate.

Look at the picture again, number 5. You will see the xapter ends at the "bottom" of the LPC area.

Line up starting with pin 1, the pin that is closest to the Nvidia chip in that tutorial. The extra holes of the socket should extend off the end of the xapter towards the mounting screw.

Fantmx, I don't know if you were suggesting that the chip being installed in that tutorial was a 2.6 but I don't think it is. Wasn't the butt-ugly round LED that can be seen on the switch bank changed up between the 2.3b and 2.6 series? Not sure when they started cutting the corners of the switch bank tho...

I wasn't really implying anything, just saying to look at the picture more carefully. Although, looking at the date that tutorial was published and the shape of the switches, it may be an early 2.6, but it is definately not a 2.6CE. The 2.3 didn't have the cut corners on the switch if I remember correctly. Not that it really matters.

Thank you

Thanks both for info tried searching everywhere for it but still cant see it and didnt want to fry box or chip.
Anyway with mine being a version1.0 i decided to solder after reading more reviews/problems with xapter. All working well now.Ready for next stage.
Im going to order another chip for my friends 1.4 and try the xapter on that now I know where to place chip correctly due to your information
Again many thanks Del.
