LITEON DG-16D2S XBC won't start read

My friend got a RROD about three months ago and replaced his Elite with a Slim model. He kept the slim model and when I told him I could fix it, he literally told me to keep it. So in addition to keeping the box, I also figured I would use this opportunity to use the drive to rip my game collection (which I haven't done in a while and I need to catch up). I have been told the the drive needs to be flashed to 0800 CFW, but I have an X360USB Pro V2 and I have been told that my device puts the drive in 0800 status automatically so that I don't have to flash to 0800. So that being said...

This drive has never been flashed before, but XBC won't read the game. Detects the drive, even the game, but START is greyed out.

All help is appreciated.:biggrin:

I think you need to have your dvd key in the database. You can get that from jungle flasher. What kind of drive is it

Have a read of this ----> http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php/86796-Xbox-Backup-Creator-v2-9-Build-0421-by-Redline99

That post confuses me a bit, but I am using a Liteon DG-16D2S. When you mention having the key in the database, do I just extract the key and then I'm done? Don't write the firmware or anything?

yes. You need to probe the point on the dvd pcb to extract your dummy bin and you key will be added to the database. I always save my kv.bin anyways. Alternatively if you already know your dvd key then you should be able to just enter it in.

if your only gonna use the drive for ripping games why bother messing about probing and getting the drive key just flash with 0800 CFW if its a compatible drive
