XBL Banning: I talked with Customer Service

Ok, first let me, like everone else has done with all this mess, tell you my setup:

1.) Modded a vr. 1.4 Xbox with X3. Upgraded HDD to 250 GB Hitachi
2.) Tried 2 month trial XBL the night after Halo 2 came out (first time on XBL)
3.) Played FINE up until this week. This week I modded a friend's stock xbox JUST like mine (Xecuter3 and new HDD) except he HAD played on XBL before. I warned him but he said go ahead with it--we'll try another eeprom if it fails.
4.) He did an Account Recovery on MY Xbox before we modded his. I did this thinking that after we modded his Xbox, we'd do an Account Recovery on his Xbox and they might not notice the new HDD (stupid thought, oh well)
5.) We did all of #4 and that night it worked! Next night he got banned.
6.) I got on my Xbox for the first time since the Account Recovery and after he got banned. Of course there was still his account on my Xbox. I started Halo 2 and ACCIDENTALLY pushed his name to sign-in. No password was associated--we never set one. Instantly the network troubleshooter dialog came up--I'm banned.

So, I decided that his name being tied to my Xbox was the only reason I got banned. I have PLENTY of friends who are still on XBL with my same setup (so BEWARE: Do not let anyone put their account on your Xbox if they've been banned! I guess this works the same with memory card transfers?) I called XBL Customer Support. I acted dumb telling them I didn't know what a mod was and that I wanted my account reset. The guy walked me through the following to get some information. For those of you with modded banned boxes you can try this:

1.) Turn Xbox on, Mod off (no games in DVD-ROM)

2.) Try to go to Xbox Live (it will give you the network troubleshooting error). Go ahead with it.

3.) It will verify everything and then jump to the screen with the Xbox Mod Error. Back out of that error screen back to the troubleshooting screen.

4.) At this point you should see that it had checked for everything and Connecting to Xbox Live FAILED.

5.) Press Y. Some information comes up (this is what they wanted)

6.) Press A. More information will eventually come up (more info they wanted).

All this to say maybe someone from Team Xecuter can analyze these numbers and tell me what they mean? Maybe we can share these codes and find differences/similarities or IS THIS EVEN WORTH LOOKING AT? I dunno. I wonder if regular non-modded Xboxes would show these same numbers? If so does that mean the X3 is doing a good job? Any input on this would be helpful! For right now, XBL Customer Support says they don't see anything and they are transferring me to "Level 2" support. If anyone has any experience with THIS let me know!

I talked with CS again. They told me that there is NOTHING tied with a GamerTag that looks for mod chips or modded Xboxes. An Xbox can ONLY be banned if it has modifications done to it. I wouldn't worry about signing up for a new XBL Account to avoid getting banned again. I'm going to try this as soon as a I get another eeprom. I will post results when I get them!

This coming from the moron with this signature:
"X2 pro..2.3..2.6..x3 with a bang...X3 at last !!and soon i will know how to use it then i will be a god well maybe not a god maybe a xbox guru or something along those lines oooh! yeah baby....."

Please, don't even get me started on the gramatical errors in that quote. If you don't have anything productive to say, shut the f up.

As far as the original post, I think this points more towards flagging of GT's. I am currently on Live with the X3 and a non-stock HD (200 gig Maxtor) and have yet to be banned. Of course, I didn't sign onto Live until I had my box fully modded (which is the same as GI2ASSHOPPA). If he is now banned, the only reason I could suspect would be the flagging of GT's which caused a more thorough scan of his box.

My question is this: If his friends flagged GT did cause a more thorough scan, how did they detect that his was indeed modded? Marriage theory says that as long as you sign on with a clean EEProm and HD, you shouldn't have any problems. Obviously when a GT is flagged they ARE running some other kind of test to detect modifications. Any ideas?

Also, does anyone have a link to what those #'s mean on the screens provided? The W/X/Y/Z/L appears to be partition information to me, perhaps with the beginning/ending of each. Maybe each one of these addresses isn't exactly what it should be.

Could someone with a NON-modded box follow the given steps and provide us with the info they obtain?

EDIT: Contacted a buddy of mine who ran the tests for me and reported the following:
1.00.5971.01
W: 0000-0008
X: 0000-F001
Y: 00A8-4860 (doesn't match original)
Z: 0000-0000 (doesn't match original)

L: 77 ms (79) ms (guessing this is Latency)
P: 20/21 (packets?)

Does anyone have any info on what these #'s mean? These #'s might not match because of different HD's used in different versions of X-Boxes. Any NON-modded with the same version as the original poster?

Couldnt it be possible that when these xboxs are made, they record the eeprom and hd # at the factory? So even if you wait until "after" upgrading your HD, it could still be banned because of the #s not matching? My friend waited until after modding and upgrading his HD and then signed up for XBL and got banned after about a week. Signed up monday..got Halo2 tues....and then sat morning he was banned.

You would think they would do that, since it'd be almost a sure-fire way to ban people who changed the hd or put in a new eeprom. However, current evidence is showing that they don't do this. I've been on Live with Halo 2 since the day it came out and have yet to be banned (with X3 and non-stock 200 Gig HD). I know a LOT of other people who have had success with this when the ABSOLUTE first time they signed on live was with the modded HD already in place (this means never clicking on anything that would connect to live even for a millisecond).

Anyone have any clue what all those #'s mean?

Well I installed new eeprom on a friend's banned Xbox. He had modded AFTER getting on XBL for the first time so we figured he'd be screwed. When I used ConfigMagic it changed his MAC address as well as the online key. Is this ok to do, changing the MAC address or should you change that back via On-the-fly editing. Also I'm a bit confused as to the differences between the HD Lock key and the HD Unique Key and which one XBL uses. For right now, I'm going to try getting another eeprom, signing up for a new gamertag, and getting on. If that doesn't work I'm looking at the low level format option. Who knows... posts to come...

I didnt think that you had to get another tag! I thought that if you got banned you could log on from another xbox. Not right?

You can log on from another box with the same GT, but you can't keep the same GT and login from the box that you've been banned from.

What would happen if I signed up for the 2-Month Trial with a unmodded xbox and then that ran out and so I bought and activated the 12-Month Live Account with a MODDED xbox, would I be banned?

One more question, if you are banned for modding your xbox, I would have thought that Microsoft could take some sort of legal action against you?

gi2ashoppa Mac addy's are unique, and are given by a governed agency if I'm not mistaken. The Mac addy is the hardwares personal identity and is used on the net and in networks for each device to figure out whos who and if 2 devices are connect with the same Mac addy then they will either not connect or they will and data will either be sent to both or not at all.
Now as for this Post, I would like to know why no one reads the rules, it states that you must research first which any real modder knows they should do first. If you would have research you would of known that Xbox-scene.com has all of this info alrighty out lined throughly for you including how xboxs get banned and exactly what most of the numbers mean. Now as for GT being tagged it is very possible, and I would expect that M$ would do this. Now if you all would please turn your Hamsters from half speed to full we will get on with the next part. All model numbers for Xbox HD are recoded, and I do not mean each and every xbox the same model number is uded for all like drive think of it as a UPC number if you goto the grocery store and pick up 3 pf the same item and you will notice that the upc's all match. Like if you have a Seagate 10gig xbox hd then I can garuntee that your number will start with ST3100, but there is 2 10gig seagates used so the number might not match if you have a v1.0 xbox that has a 10gig seagate with the rubber wrap around it. And again please RESEARCH FIRST AND READ ALL OF THE RULES!

redd, mind providing a link? I've looked all over XBScene and haven't seen anything (maybe I'm just not searching for the right keywords or maybe I'm just blind).
