Hello,:D

I have some problems to startup my xbmc as maindash.

I read a lot off tutorials, but still no xbmcdash:mad: .

I ftp the xbmc files, make the map e:/Apps/XBMC/ put the files there as needed.
The 2 files default.xbe and XboxMediaCentre.xml in the c:/
changed the .xml <home>..
Fireup the xbox and there is the problem: he startsup M$ dash.

How can i make thate he is take the defaul.xbe(xbmc)?

xecuter3 on board.

lmao - just 'deleted' the main ms dashboard file which controls stuff like gamesaves.....

You'll also not be able to use the Xbox with the chip disabled.

Maybe you should spend longer reading next time......

LOL

I've never been one to kick people when they're down but man that's funny...

Rookie mistake, we've all been there (well maybe not deleting the ms dash file, but we all make mistakes) Anyway, it is possible to get it back, trust you will need it one day.

Do a little searching and you'll find it...Also, assuming you're using the X3 chip you could've set the BIOS to boot to XBMC from X3CL.

Here's where you could have gone for info about this:

http://manual.xboxmediacenter.de/wakka.php?wakka=XBMCAsDash&v=1ee5

It's almost ironic, but RTFM actually does apply in this situation!
PS- I hope you have a backup xboxdash.xbe to put back on!
I went for the link like 100 times.. And i did leave the xboxdash.xbe in c.
and copyed the default.xbe (xbmc) there to, but when i try to bootup... he always take the xboxdash.xbe first (on holding long press).

Yep i made a backup befor i did somthing on my box. (so i have still the xboxdash.xbe).

So whate i go to do now is:

1 put the xboxdash.xbe back on C

2 Put the default.xbe and the .xml (XBMC) where the xbmx is located in my case e:\Apps\XBMC\.

3 Have to find out how to configured the the x3 to boot from e:\Apps\XBMC\.

So if there is someone who now a good tutorial about how to.. Please link me.

Ps... i have my box just 1 day running on the x3, so im still new in this.;)

Just go into x3cl and look at the dashboard boot priority.

Your XBMC will never boot using default.xbe - look to x3cl to see what's available. You can even change the filenames. I'd change it to xbmc.xbe and rename one of the xbe files it looks for. This is pretty easy stuff. For immediate access, just rename it to evoxdash.xbe as all BIOSes look to this by default.

I have my XBMC set as my main dash and on occasion i can't load up games or play a dvd disc. I have checked to see if my system was over heating but it does not go above 60 degrees C. I'm wondering if there is a corrupted file in my XBMC or is it a glitch in the system. If anyone could shed some lite on this subject i would appreciate it.

Martin, Can you clarify please...." I'd change it to xbmc.xbe and rename one of the xbe files it looks for. This is pretty easy stuff. For immediate access, just rename it to evoxdash.xbe as all BIOSes look to this by default."
Are you saying locate the XBMC default.xbe file and rename it evoxdash.xbe? Do I have to put the XBMC in any special place?
And what do you mean by " and rename one of the xbe files it looks for." Sorry if this is obvious to others. Thanks for you help.

In X3CL customize bios options, there is a selection to change the filename that is used for loading dashboards. Rename one of these to xbmc.xbe - put the file xbmc.xbe in the root of c. You'll also need xboxmediacentre.xml in the root of c. Finally to make it work you have to rename the "home" location in the .xml file

Yes that's what he's saying. again, just put the file in the root of c. You'll also need xboxmediacentre.xml in the root of c. Finally to make it work youhave to rename the "home" location in the .xml file

Note, the suggestion to rename the xbe file in X3CL is better than renaming the actual file itself (if that makes sense) i.e. go with the first explanation! :)
