thats the source code. you need to either compile that or get it from xbins.

Even when you download the compiled version, it will not have a default.xbe file. Defualt.xbe is only needed if you plan on running the software from a disc.

Having a default.xbe is useful if you plan on having the game/application/etc. within a directory that is "auto searched" by your dashboard. Many dashboards when pointed to a directory (ex., F:\apps\) will search the first level of sub-directories and display any programs that are named default.xbe. Generally there are also options to search deeper than just the first sub dir, but this is usually all that is needed. You can always take the program.xbe file and rename it to or create a copy named default.xbe and it should still work no problems.

For XBMC I'd suggest logging into xbins. In the welcome message it tells you the server, user and password to access XBMC binaries. Also, if you have any later questions I would suggest you check out the XBMC specific forums, they're linked at http://www.xboxmediacenter.com.

I downloaded XBMC-CVS_2005-10-23-T3CH.rar from xbins and i was re-directed to a mirror site, The .xbe file is "rename_me.xbe" so it depends on what you put on bios set-up what to look for first when booting if you want to use it as your dashboard and the XBMC folder should be on the E: partition to work.

And Whoopin' is right that If you want to use as Apps it should be renamed as "default.xbe" otherwise it will not be included in the Programs Menu.

Isn't the rename_me.xbe a "redirect" program that allows XBMC to be run as a dash but only the rename_me.xbe program needs to be on C? I know there was an extra xbe included for this purpose.
