xBox 1.6(b?) + Xecuter 2.6CE + Bank 1 not booting

Hi Guys,

I am a total newbian here, so please excuse my questions if they are already somewhere on the forums. I have searched but was not able to find much as I didnt really know what keywords to search for.

I just installed the mod chip (2.6CE) and the unit boots up great with the mod chip off. It wont boot(black screen and solid green eject button) when the mod chip is turned on and in the BANK 1 position. It will boot in the BANK 2 position to FlashBIOS 3.0.3, though I cant move the selection because of my controller(read about this and in the process of getting another controller, Im currently using wireless logitech controllers).

I'm really not even sure if this is a problem. I have been reading and reading but I'm uncertain if flashing the bios via bank2 will actually write to bank1 and vise versa... Could someone please tell me what is normal operation and if my unit is not working correctly, what do i need to do?

Also, I'm not sure if i have an xbox 1.6 or 1.6b, i was unable to find a guide to tell me the difference between the two. The unit has one of those xbox video chips, hynix or whatever memory, and a 2 row psu connector. What else am i looking for to tell the difference?

Flashbios 3.03 works with a 1.6b, 3.01 works with a 1.6, so you probably have a 1.6. Dowload X2 5035 and flash that with flashbios. See my sig about flashbios.

Do you mean a 1.6b? Flashbios 3.03 works fine, and Bank1 does not work at all. I thought bank 1 had 3.01 pre-flashed on it? so that would mean that my machine works with 3.03 making it a 1.6b right?

I went ahead and downloaded 5035 and flashed it via http. When I boot however, I've got FRAG.

Any help is much appriciated.

Got it, thanks, thats what I thought. I was able to flash the bios again and that did the trick. I guess something was screwed up in the first go around.

I have one more question for you guys... I dont want to start a new thread obviously, so here it is.

A friend of mine does these mods all the time and he did my original mod but I decided I wanted to try it myself. So i'm doing the mod for some friends now. Anyway, here is a list of things that he said I should do to get the unit up and working. I just need a little clearification on somethings and my friend is VERY busy and is not around much. So here is the list.

1. flash the chip with the xecuter bios
2. ftp the old hard drive to my computer (if saves are important)
3. boot to something like slayer's disk
4. format the new drive
5. ftp over xbmc
6 boot to xbmc and ftp the origional drive backup back to the new hd.
7. ftp all applications/emulators/dashboards/roms/games to the new drive
8. done

So far i've flashed the bios. I took the old 10gb drive out of the xbox and put in the new 200gb drive. I then ran slayers auto install to see if things would work. it booted into M$ dash when i did a Stealth install ( f: ) and it booted slayer when I did a normal install ( c: ). My question is this... I want to do a manual install, because I want to save as much space as possible and not install stuff I dont use. I would like to do an install that allows for xbox live, but neither of my friends currently NEED that, i just want to keep it if anyone else ever needs it.

could you guys point me in the right direction as to how I should go about doing this? for example, when my friend says copy the old HD over to my computer, wouldnt I need to be booted into slayer to get FTP access? Also, where do I ftp XBMC to? on my box, its installed on F: drive. Once that is done, how do I boot to XBMC? Do I need to create some kind of xbe file or something?

Sorry for the stupid questions, but any help is appriciated.

I was able to get XBMC working and all that jazz. I am downloading the auto installer now, so thanks for that. I have one last question... is there a tutorial for x2config.ini stuff? I am clueless as to how "config magic" or "x2 config maker" are supposed to work in conjunction with disabling flubber and other features i read about. I'll keep reading though, and if i get a reply to this, thanks. Other wise, i'm sure i'll find it eventually. :)

you will have to get the x2 config maker that supports 5035 bios
it very easy to use just make a x2 config with the fan speed bump up so your xbox keeps its cool i run my xbox at around 35% (winter over here) 20% is default setting as well what dash you wish to boot
then save it to a folder on pc make it your backup if you f#$kup then ftp it to E:/ folder of xbox then reboot xbox
then make another one just try changing fan speed / colours (has preset colours) and other things like how it boots stay away from video setting till you know what your doing (dont need to change them anyway)
if that f##kup just go back to the frist one you made
