Here is what i did for the bios.bin file if that is a problem.

Using bios manager 2, I open flashbios 3.0.1 bin and it autoload into bank 1 and bank 2. Then i open M8+ 1.6 into bank 3 and it auto load in bank 4 too. But bank 3 and 4 says bios type unknown 256k. I saved it into Bios.bin and flashed using Network. It flashed fine and that is where we at.
That sounds about right - have you tested this HDD in your PC?

I have tried both HD on xbox with same result. I will now test it on PC. Does it hurt if I format the drive in the PC?

Not at all - you can reformat it on the Xbox if you get it working eventually.

Ok the HD checked out fine on the PC. Formatted and it is still giving same result. Did I have to unlock the retail HD befor putting in a new drive?

Not at all.

Right - talk me through this step by step as to what happens...

You fit the new HDD. HDD and DVD are detected by FlashBIOS on bank 1.

You try and boot a boot CD (which works with the old stock HDD) from bank 2 with the new HDD still in place and .......

what exactly happens?

Ok, here is what we got.

Xbox 1.6 with x2.6lite chip flashed with 1mb bios 2x256k Fhashbios in Bank1 and 2x256k m8+1.6 in bank 2.

Under bank 1. HD and DVD detect fine.
Under bank 2:
If boot with original HD, MS dashboard load fine without autoinstaller disk.
If boot with original HD and autoinstaller in DVD drive, autoinstaller load fine. Installing hash software/dashboard fine.

If boot with newly, untouched HD, system boot and then auto reboot to error 21 with or without autoinstaller DVD im drive.

When receiving error 21 after the auto reboot, the DVD eject button would flash red and green repeatedly and continue to what seems indefinetly.

"With your disk, it give me same error...16"

ok - progress.

Boot from your stock HDD and chip disabled.

Set date/time.

Switch off Xbox (but do not unplug mains cable). Swap HDD to new one.
Boot from my boot CD with chip enabled.

Let me know what happens.

Looking better...

What media did you burn it to? Did you select Recorder / Burn Image in Nero for instance to burn the ISO?

you mean boot with your disk and chip enable with stock HD?

if so then, the disk is bad, since it does not boot. and the dvd drive says no disc. Will try to burn to cd-r

Once you get this disk booting with the stock HDD, you should be good to go with the new one.
