it takes a very quick press on the power to boot with the chip on (panel blue).also have you tried pressing the power/eject to see if it will boot to the backup bio's.

So many problems with first firmware hack

I have a ms25 Samsung Drive I'm trying to hack. I have tried several different methods, but none seemed to work. I tried Jungleflasher first. I installed my card and removed the drivers like the Jungleflasher guide said to do. This is where the problems happen. When i turn my computer on with the 360 drive connected it freezes during the Windows XP splash screen. If I wait to connect the sata cable to the 360 after I open Jungleflasher, Windows XP freezes and I have to power off the system. Ive gotten lucky a couple times and the system did not freeze but Jungleflasher reported there were no drives detected.
Next time I tried Iprep. I made the usb boot drive and rebooted the system. I got to the iprep dos screen. I typed SAM ####### ##### and it told me to answer No to the first 2 questions. When I get to the third option I enter Yes. The status reads 0x80. I turn off the system and waited 10-15 secs then turned the 360 back on. I go no response. I tried power cycling a couple more times with no drive detected.
I'm starting to suspect a faulty card or sata cable. Does anyone have an suggestions?

Re: So many problems with first firmware hack

When power cycling the drive it has to be a quick on and off, not 10-15 seconds inbetween - Maybe a second inbetween.

If you think it is your VIA card that is giving you problems then you can always use your onboard SATA, not all people need a VIA card - like me.

I use my onboard SATA for flashing but if I get any problems I will switch over to my VIA card, and vice versa.

If you can read from the drive using onboard SATA then that is usually the OK to go ahead and follow the flashing process through, you are not going to harm your drive by reading from it.

Cant you disconnect any other CD/DVD Drives or extra hard drives for the duration of the process for the Samsung.

Or do you not have any SATA ports at all?
