Ok guys I really need some help with this new 1.6 box. I installed the 2.6ce chip using the pin header method and the PCB rebuild. When I boot the Xbox it attempts to boot 3 times and then frags with nothing on the screen. To my understanding, this chip comes with a "legal" bios already loaded, I tried both banks but it does the same thing. When I put the chip off from the switch the Xbox boots normally; If this post has been already made I’m sorry, but I have been working on this box for 2 days now and can’t seem to find out what’s going on.

:(

I'm pretty new to this, but I just modded a 1.6 and a 1.6b with 2.6ce.

fragging seems to usually be a problem with D0 solder points. Did you use the installation manual to put the chip in?

also, are you sure that the box is a 1.6, and not a 1.6b? flashbios 3.01 (which should be loaded on the 2.6CE's) won't work with 1.6b. don't let me insult your intelligence if you've already verified the version, but this ID'er works really f'in well:

A D0 will not cause a FRAG. All the D0 point does is tell the Xbox to boot from the LPC bus and not the onboard bios. It is likely a problem with your install. Check it over again. Remove the LPC rebuild board of necessary. You can use some solder braid for that. It won't matter if it is a 1.6 or 1.6b, they both get installed the same way, and since you said you tried both banks the bios is not the problem.

Do not confuse the legal "FlashBIOS" that came with the chip to the hacked BIOS. Bank 1 shipped with 3.0.1 and Bank 2 is 3.0.3. Do remember that when you flash the chip with the hacked BIOS (such as X2 5035 - strongly recommended), it will automatically be flashed to Bank 1 regardless of how you change the switch setting. I think that the only way to get X2 5035 onto Bank2 is to use a Programmer. Haven't try this but I've definitely put X2 5035 on my Bank1 and 3.0.1 on my Bank 2.

i had the same problem and it was the D0 i just forgot to solder it in. booted fine after i made the change. i would check that first, and while the box is open make sure you don't have any high solder points that might be grounding out.

hope this helped

Without the D0 connected it wouldn't try to boot from the chip. As I said before a D0 point will not cause the Xbox to FRAG.

Ok guys’ thanks for responding, here is what I did.

After seeing that the d0 point won’t cause a FRAG, it must have been the lpc points. I removed the PCB board for the lpc rebuild and rebuilt the lpc with some wire. I did not have 30awg? wire as some of the guides suggested; so after scouting around the house I noticed I had a bunch of old IDE cables. The individual strands looked small enough to work with, and surprisingly the Xbox booted to flash bios when I tried it. Oh and for those going after flashfxp, you really don’t need too. Being into networking I can tell you that internet explorer works just as well. All you do is; get your Xbox IP from the settings option then in IE you type ftp://xbox:[email protected]. The xxx being the IP address. I don’t like IE and use mozilla firefox, but for some reason I cant get it to work in mozilla, so I guess IE is useful after all. Also I changed my evox.ini file to include a "install new Hdd" menu". For those interested here is a copy of my ini file.
Hope this helps you guys out.

Sounds like you've finally got your box going and it was the PCB board that played up on you. I know that 2.6CE came with FTP daemon and I've tried HTTP before but it won't connnect (between my PC and the xbox). I have no problem with FTP though.

yea i got it going, works fine now. i flashed the 2.6ce via http from the flashbios software. since i dont have a programmer, i got flashbios v303 and packed it with the m8+ 16 evox bios with the x2 bios manager. making sure the evox bios was on bank 2. i think i read somewhere that it wont work if its on bank 1.;)

why went with the m8+ 16 evox? Experts in this forum would gladly recommended X2 5035 and that's what I went with (as what was recommended to me by people in this forum)

Hi Kargato,

Is your XBOX v1.6b? I have X2.6CE, v1.6b, black screen and fragging. I read that the black screen is due to old BIOS, but the catch (I think) is that you can not load new BIOS if it's fragging, correct? If your XBOX is also v1.6b then I am more confident re-soldering the LPC board as you described. Thank you.
