Hi,

I am having problems getting my X3 Chip working, I believe that I have soldered everything correctly and it seems ok. I can turn on my XBOX and both of the LEDs on the X3 PCB turn on. The blue light on the front display does turn on but I get nothing on my screen. If I hold the power button for 3 sec and disable the X3 chip my XBOX boots up fine with the original BIOS.

I have just read a thread which mentions checking the voltages to make sure I am getting the correct voltages to the X3 so I will do that and post my results back here.

Does anyone have any suggestions I could try?

Thanks for the reply, I will try that. Just a question my dvd drive doesnt seem to want to open when I boot the X3 chip is this normal? I havent yet read up on how to use a different bios but I will do so now.

It will eject once FlashBIOS loads correctly. There are plenty of n00b guides on the X3 both here and Xbox-Scene.com

Try both 1MB Banks:

1234 - on on off off
5678 - off on off off

One should have Flashbios 3.0.3, which will give you a display.

I have tried doing this but still the same, nothing on the display. Just a blank screen and the dvd drive doesnt eject

You could also try to boot to the backup BIOS by pressing power and eject at the same time. I don't know if it is standard on all the X3s, but at least mine came with Flashbios 3.0.1 pre flashed on the backup BIOS.

The problem is FlashBIOS 3.0.1 will NOT work on a 1.6b.

Check with your chip supplier - see if FlashBIOS 3.0.3 was on at least one of the banks.

If so, try booting from it. If still nothing then it's possible the solder job is bad.

If your chip supplier informs you that 3.0.3 wasn't on the X3, then ask them to flash it on there for you.

I strongly believe this is the case. I have tried all possible combinations of the switches with no luck so I am checking with my supplier.
