Should I buy the first X360 or wait, if I will mod it later? How about Xbox, was it easier to mod the later versions? I will not be the one with the first X360 that was most diffiult to mod.

What do you think? Based on knowledge.

when you buy the 360 is really your decision. You say you don't want to be the one with the first 360 that was most difficult to mod. That does not make sense, if anything as MS change the console it should in theory become more difficult to mod, they certanly aren't going to make it easier.

For most I would say the earlier xbox version was easier to mod as you did not have to worry about rebuilding the LPC. But saying that once you have read what to do if you have OK soldering skills it should take you no more than a couple of minutes extra.

If any 360 is going to be modable it will be the first ones. It is really hard to speculate how the 360 modding scene will go though. The final retail hardware as far as I know has not been seen by anyone. A select few have or had a development kit which they are probably disecting now.

I think the conclusion for now is, its too early too say what will happen as regards modding the 360.

i dunno about that, im still using my v1 original xbox so id say microsoft did a fine job on there production, unlike sony which is about 14models in all flawed. Besides, if u get urself a warranty u can replace it if something does go wrong.

Go and buy the game !!!!!!!

Why dont the console comanys let us run homebrew software without us having to chip our consoles ???????

In answer to your question, I would wait (but not too long), the console will be cheaper and bugs will be sorted out before modding restrictions !. Im sure somewhere will keep a list of version numbers/manufacturing dates etc..

I will buy one maybe next summer, and see how I get on with xbox live (never used it on my current xbox's) and If I see a need to mod it, I will wait and buy another one to mod and keep one for live, or just mod it and forget live.

I have my deposit in for the 360 Deluxe model Already!
I have a Xbox V1.0 that I just modded this week I was going to wait until I had my 360 then mod the box. But a funny thing happened on day
about 2 years after doing nothing more than a DVD drive replacement I started to get an Modified XBox error when accessing live. Now keep in mind that I have never used

1. Any Hack Games or Saves
2. No Chip Mods
3. No SoftMods Only the DVD replacemnt now 2 years old.

I called M$ and they told me that changing the DVD drive is the same as moding and I would not be able to access live anymore. After going threw two techs support guys and two supervisors I told them that I have in no way tried to "Hack" my xbox they did agree that I did not hack it but the dvd replacement still made it a modified XBox. Well I thanked them for nothing and hung up

The next day I went to Game Stop and picked up a used XBox with the Samsung Drive and recovered my live account onto it

Now I know that the 360 will be here soon and I could have waited but I reguse to let them have my money for live and I not be able to access it for two months

I was told on the phone that M$ is goign to start to look at mopre of the hardware for changes A.K.A the serial number of the DVD but I have not seen any posts of a ban problem like mine

I think this might by a way of M$ forcing everyone to but the 360 when it hits

Since I now had a second one to play live with I went ahead a made the mod plunge and I am happy that I did

Took a little bit of research to find all the inforamtion but works like a charm. One the first attempt to

So this is a long way of saying that yes buy the first gen I did and I am still happy with it to this day

P.S. I heard from Game Stop when I bought the used XBox that when the 360 comes out that M$ is going to drop the cost of the original to $49.95
If this is true would be a good time to pick another one up

Get the first one, it will be quite a while before there are any mod chips out, by that time any major bugs will have been found and almost all minor bugs. Which means by the time a chip does come out there will be a newer version if there is a need for a newer version. These systems will be tested to the limit before they're released so i doubt there will be any bugs. For the XBox any newer versions were just security updates to prevent them from being modded rather than bug fixes. You really dont find bugs with hardware, just the software/firmware that run on them.

We can speculate all we want guys, but the truth won't be known until the first one is hacked...

I suppose the best thing to do would be to wait until an Xecuter chip is out, by then the 360 should be cheaper, and buy your 360 from ebay even cheaper still (ask seller what the serial numbers are to find out what version it is since you will want the first version).

buy one when it comes out....

buy another when the next xecuter comes out, install it on my old x360, and then use my new fresh one for not modding.

Very true MaDgamEr very true
I personally will buy one when come's out
WHat I am wondering is, they say you can access media from another computer from your xbox 360 if that is true is there a program out there for us to use the xbox 360 to access all of are backup's on are original xbox.

Just a simple but very important ? to me
not to mention that it would be very flippin cool to access all of your movies & stuff!!!!

I think the fact that the XBoX 360 can access data on your computer could be a huge vulnerability. It could probably be used to softmod your XBoX 360 fairly easily....

I am thinking they may drop the price, but I don't think they will go that far. Maybe $99, but you are right it should be a good time to pick one up. And if the new ones are going for $99, then the used ones may drop to $49. Time for an XBox in every room....

Bought it a year after launch for 1/3 the $. In any case its too early to bank on a company that failed the first time round.
