It's a corona v5..

Required:
1. Slim Proto v2 or CR4 XL (There Are Other TX Glitch Chips That Will Work But I'd Use One Of The 2 Listed)
2. Slim Demon Kit
3. Post Fix
4. Nand X Or JR Programer

Optional:
1. Corona v3 QSB

To my understanding, he can use the DemoN to read/write the NAND so that would save him some $ if he doesn't have the NAND x or jrprogrammer yet :)

I figured he already had one since he said that hes done other consoles & I like to read the nand before I install anything.

Is the postfix adapter required for all coronas? What is a the corona QSB for? Thank you.

no mate the postfix is only for versions with no post out. V3 and above although some v2 have been known to need one. The qsb is just for easier soldering in some cases, its not needed

you should read the demon installation guide but no the post fix adapter is used because m-soft caught on to the fact that we solder to the post out and removed the traces on the motherboards after v1/v2 corona mobo revisions. so tx had to improvise a chip that could contact the solder ball under the cgpu so any corona after v1/v2 DOES have to have a post fix adapter (including your v5). and as for the corona qsb they are nice to have especially so you can read the nand by plugging the little wires into the qsb without resoldering the spi reader back into the header. but the demon is a standalone dual nand device with amazingly fast read/write speeds which after the console is put back together you can plug a mini usb into the external module at any time to read/write the nand and update the console or whatever so no the qsb is optional but the demon has everything you need except for a glitch chip and soldering skills.

Thanks. I'm not the one with the Corona v5. I have a v3 (I wanted the standard-def fall back option). I already have the DemoN and a Slim Proto v2. Somehow, I read the tutorials and just plain forgot to buy the postfix adapter. I am planning on picking up a JR programmer off xconsoles today, so I probably ought to buy a Corona QSB as well. Thanks.

I am still trying to understand if I should bother with the Corona v3 QSB. It seems that it is soldered onto the Slim Proto at some or all of the lettered pads. Then, I can attach it to my PC either through something like a J-R Programmer or directly through USB by using the direct comms cable. Is there any benefit to using a J-R programmer over the direct cable method? Will the Corona QSB v3 work fine with the Slim Proto? Everything I read about the Corona QSB seems to indicate that it was designed for the coolrunner, not the slim proto. Perhaps I am wasting my time and money, and I should just use the DemoN without the J-R Programmer and/or Corona QSB v3. My soldering skills are acceptable for either task.

Aha! Now, I get it. Thanks. The tutorials/HOWTOs I was looking at were soldering those lines right onto the pads themselves, no headers and no QSB. The Corona QSB v3, then, doesn't fundamentally alter the process. It just adds some connection points for connecting to J-Runner more easily (either through a dedicated device like J-R Programmer or NAND-X or through the USB comms cable). I think I understand now.
