Hello all,
So recently, I was feeling like a real badass, so I hooked up my 500GB XBOX drive (unmodded, complelely stock) to my Windows machine and formatted it for some extra storage I needed. I had no idea that I was on a road to xbox hell. When I plugged the hard drive back into the xbox's sata port, I went into System>Storage and got the dreaded message of "No Storage Devices found." I hooked it up back to my PC and the drive displayed perfectly. So I picked up my SATA to USB adapter and hooked it up to the USB port of my xbox. The drive shows up, but apparently I'm allowed to use only 32 gigs of storage. I was like "oh hell naw. I ain't gonna live off of 32 gigs." So after some googling, I got the HDDSS.BIN for my hard drive and learned about HDDHACKR. Here's the problem. Because the hard drive of the xbox is stock, it is still in its case. And despite hours of my best efforts, I cannot get that son of a b**ch to open. Now I don't have a PC and am stuck with a laptop, meaning I can't get my xbox HDD to connect to the main SATA port. I do have a SATA to USB, but HDDHACKR doesn't want to detect it. I'm stuck with a bricked xbox HDD with the corresponding HDDSS.BIN, a SATA to USB adapter and a laptop. Can anyone tall me how I can recover my xbox HDD's ass? I have heard of some HEX tools that may help me, so I'll keep this thread updated with details. I am new to this, so please spare my life if I haven't provided enough information or if I posted in the wrong section or if I said something stupid. I'll say everything I know right now:
It's a completely stock 500GB XBOX 360 Elite HDD (and yes, it goes into an XBOX 360 E as well)
I have a Toshiba SATA to USB adapter
As far as I know, my console has the latest dashboard
My PC is running Windows 8.1, Windows XP and Linux.
I greatly appreciate any assistance in advance.

Sincerely,
Apoorv Chauhan

As far as I know the hddhackr only works with WD Scorpio drives.
So with your drive u can't get it back to original.
Unless things have changed since.
However with the new dashboard update about a year ago, u can now use it as an external USB drive with its full 500gb capacity.

Yeah, the xbox sees the full 500 gigs but after configuring it as a system drive, it says that it can go up to 32 gigs only, and any other space will be unusable. So yeah... I'm screwed. I have to use the SATA port on the xbox. I heard of fatxplorer which apparently allows you to format as fatx, so I'll be trying that out.

u don't need to configure it has a system drive. Just leave it at full capacity and it will work in the Xbox.

The XBOX 360 will only use / allocate 32GB of space on a USB device.

Only internal hard drives will use the full capacity (assuming the HDD signature is present and correct).

you can try hex edit and over write the sectors from the bin u downloaded but i thought it will work because it didn't work for my xbox 360 60gb hdd i accidentally formatted. heres a tutorial http://digiex.net/guides-reviews/co...ta-harddrive-work-xbox-360-xbox-360-slim.html

you maybe can recover any data back using FATxplorer for any save games if u manage to flash the hdd back

like the other people suggested u can also use it as an external hdd with a usb hard drive adapter or trade it with someone u know for a western digital hard drive to flash it with HDDHACKR

keep in mind not to mess with your laptop hard drive when using hex or hddhackr its easier to remove the laptops hdd and place the xbox one hdd in it because exsata will not work when i try also check your bios on your laptop.
