Those power issues on slims are no fun at all. I don't even waste my time with them anymore, if I'm bored at some point I'll try replacing MOSFETs and do some reflows, which occasionally works, but its a shoot and miss with those darn slims. The newer they are, the worse they fail too...
Ya ultimate most people who bring me no power slims don't want to invest money for time and end up leaving them with me for parts .. no power doesn't always happen to them but when/if it does just sell it on ebay for 20 bucks

Guess what u guys are saying is it's like shooting in the dark as far as diagnostics go.
@ultimate360...that is so true...the power issues seem to be much more frequent w/ the E than the S...cheaper components maybe?
I know that on the phats most of them I came across could be fixed by moving the pins around within the usb port as it was shorting out the board...any preventive maintenance tips besides using a surge suppressor?
