Hi All - really could use the help of this community! My 6 yr. old pulled my USB thumb drive from his Xbox 360 4gb Slim console while it was completing system update 16747. Now, the console has the following conditions and I'm COMPLETELY STUCK!

1 - controller WILL not sync with the console - wireless or wired, it's not a problem with the RF....so what could be the problem?

2 - start up the console with no disc in tray, no hard drive attached and no USB thumb drive in and the console starts up immediately going to the Update screen...2 seconds later, it gives me this:
"Can't read the update from your storage device. Please reinsert it to continue update.
If problem persists, visit www.xbox.com/support
Status code 40A3-416B-B600-0F00-C000-02B6

3 - when I insert my USB flash drive with System Update file 16747, it appears that it is completing the update....green bar goes up quickly to half...then a little further....then a little further....then gets stuck at 3/4 for 2 minutes...then this:
Can't update your console. Please visit www.xbox.com/support
Status code 40A3-416B-B600-251E-C000-0185

4 - I've tried it over and over again..no success. I've tried updating using a DVD with 16747 in it...won't even read it, I've tried using all of the other updates available to download, won't even read them, I've tried unplugging power, holding "Y" and right trigger (hoping it will take me to the Dashboard...nope!), I have contacted and "chatted" with M$ help "experts"...no help what so ever.

5 - Need some help from REAL experts please! I'm open to trying ALL suggestions!

QUESTION: IS IT POSSIBLE TO READ THE NAND, can a program fix the update loop, and then can I re-upload the NAND to get me outta this loop!? Will installing a great TX chip help?

Please help me out all! Thank you!

is the 4gb the only hdd or storage device installed? also im betting my sweet ass this is a console made after aug 2011,making it a 4gb corona, and these are notorious for the flash controller that controls the nand function dying on ya,and converting to 16mb nand is 1 option,or simply using a diff storage device to try to let the update finish to.

Option 2 doesn't seem an option as I've already tried inserting a HDD and still, same loop problem. How do you quickly and easily determine the manufacturing date? (not on the back panel like the Phats always have). Secondly...how do I convert to a 16 mb nand my friend? Much appreciate your insight...as well as all others! Thank you.

Have you considered trading in your 6 year old for a new console? :p

In seriousness, you probably need to build a new NAND. You would need the kit to do an RGH. Once you have the CPU key, you can use it to build a new 16747 image.

Check the Rgh roadmap for noobies in Martin Cs sig, u will see that u will need a coolrunner or proto to rgh a slim. Rjtag is only for phats (zephyr - jasper). Also jrunner PDF has all the instructions u need for reading, writing and glitching the Xbox including install diagrams. Good luck.

Ok. The kid next door (teener) has given me a CR3 LITE chip (?) and a "JR" Programmer. He soldered the NAND-X to the board (wow) and got me some software installed. He ran to work...and here I am. This is what J-Runner tells me
Checking Console..
Version: 10
Flash Config: 0xC0462002
C0462002
This flashconfig belongs to Corona 4GB.
As of now you cant read it via SPI.
Please use an SD card reader.

What do I do now guys?

I am trying to read the NAND before going further (CR3 LITE) install. Oh, looks like I have a Corona V2. Can this nooB pull this off!? Trying to be a hero to my 6 yr. old!

Thanks

older version, but this is what you need to dump a 4GB carona. http://team-xecuter.com/corona/4gb_readwrite.jpg JR-Programmer/Nand-X only work on a 16MB nand console. You also need a compatable sd card reader. what ever you do when windows comes up with a "do you want to format" message click no
Thank you for your advice. I'm seeing a Maximus SD Tool for Corona 4 gb (currently sold out of course) Is this what is recommended? Is there a product made by Team Xecuter I can buy? I want to support their efforts and in turn all of ours by using their products before all elses.
I will post back as soon as I make any headway what so ever.

Question - once the 4gb NAND is successfully read and the CPU key obtained, can the building of the new 16747 image be done, uploaded to the son's Xbox Slim, then all of the extra's removed from the Xbox?

fixed one of these before simply using two usb sticks, your xbox is on dash 16547 and was in the middle of dash update 16747

download the 16747 update put the update file on a formated fat32 usb stick
format the other usb stick just as fat32 and empty then install both usb sticks and boot the console, should sort it out (you cannot use a hard drive or 4gb module on the board

TX makes a kit for nand RW on 4gb caronas. and yes you can create a new retail image, and remove the coolrunner.

Thank you for the suggestion! I will try this tonight (Monday) and report back right away the results. I would be great if this resolves the issue!

Thanks for the idea G. Darkside. I have on order an SD reader now. I'm hoping the suggestion by jwebb6102 will resolve the LOOP issue. If not, I will need some guidance on fixing and uploading a new 16747 image to the console once I've successfully read the NAND. Just waiting for the delivery at this point. Thanks for your reply.

Nope....no go with this idea. Console will still not complete the update with your suggested method, but thanks for the suggestion all the same. I think the NAND image is corrupt beyond a simple fix. I'm hoping you all can help me get through this once I get the SD reader in the mail and get a NAND dump along with getting the CR3 Lite to boot it to Xell (is it?). Sorry if I sound like an idiot.... but I am when it comes to this techy stuff. Thanks again.

I decided as I don't have the luxury of time, I would look up TX's NAND RW kit. Found the kit through modchipcentral. Too bad they have no safe way of giving a payment! I'm really frustrated at this point all. I'm not giving up my CC information to http://www.kimerahitech.com/pay/ Has anyone else here safely purchased from modchipcentral through this company? Sad I can't buy a TX product because the vendor is using some half rate company for payments. Too bad because Waterloo (their Canadian location) is only a 45 minute drive for me and I would have had my reader in just a couple of days!

They don't do pick-ups....believe me....I checked! I've finally got it paid for...e-mail transfer....(their Visa handler is SKETCH!). Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow! Wish me luck all. Next step....solder in SD chip, read NAND....glitch console to Xell? Get CPU key?, rebuild image? upload to console? Am I on the right track Team?

Ya modchipcentral is doing some work to their site. I got a couple things from them that were out of stock closer and used that payment method. It was fine, weird but no issues.

Oh and read nand, compare, SAVE, wright ecc then cpu key etc its all in jrunner nice easy tut to follow give it a thorough read.

forgot to mention that if you are trying my suggestion with a 4gb module still attached to the mobo then upon startup your 4gb memory module will most likely have corrupt data on that too and its just a possibility that when starting the xbox with the 2 usb sticks in its finding corrupt data on the 4gig onboard first. i would take out the 4gig module and then try the 2 usb stick method, for the sake of 5 mins might be worth a try.

Hey all. How do I upload a picture to the site? I've gone and pulled pads trying to solder the QSB. Console will not power on now. Can I fix this? Need your help once I can post the pic of my mess!
