If I get a HDD for a 4gb Xbox slim console, can I take out the internal 4Gb memory card or can Microsoft detect this?

Thanks

I believe is's built on the Board, so there is no way of moving it. Plus why would you want to move it, you can save your profile on it and save games plus other stuff on HDD

Yep - you can remove it - but it isn't transferable...but I understand there are some issues with it selecting that memory unit as default on some games, even if you have 250gb hdd?

yes ^ correct. We did a little bit of research on it a little while back - only transferable to other 4GB's!

Can MS detect that you have modified your console if you take the 4GB internal memory card out and then ban you from XBL?

...Or has that not been confirmed yet.

Certainly not confirmed...but...why would they care if you remove 4GB memory? Do they ban you if you remove a 4GB USB Pen Drive you are using as memory?

If they were that worried they would've hardwired it in.
