Need Xbox Trinity Resistor Readings with multimeter

The resistor's marked in red is the resistors I need to know the value of in ohm's. Kindly, test with a multimeter and let me know of the values. My multimeter broke and the new one is coming in about 3 weeks. I appreciate all the help.

Sounds like water damage of some sort, I've had at least 10 slims that did that very same thing after I did a IPA flux cleanup, I think some got under the components and created shorts. So I just unplug it and let it sit overnight to dry out, then it works in the morning. What kind of white residue are you seeing? Is it a very light layer that's kinda swirled all over the board, or is there like a white crusty substance?

It is just a very light layer that is swirled around the board. But I don't think it is water damage as it was working when it came in and just sat on one of the shops shelf for a while and then it was tested again after 3 months.

Does it behave any different if you apply pressure to the south bridge?

Hi,

I will attempt that but look at the picture attached. I think that may be my problem. The resistors and the trace itself looks damaged. The area is near the power supply port on a trinity xbox. Do you think that could be corrosion caused by water damage? If there was water damage, it must have been very slight for the light to turn on and not only beep. Even if I do fix the damage, do you honestly think it could be saved? I can't find any other areas like this. Although the water damage could have affected other components I do not know of. I have another working trinity which I could use to get readings and cross check with this board. If you do think that this is an issue, would it be possible for you to give me a reading of this area? My new multimeter is gonna take a few more weeks. Now looking at it again, it kinda looks like some idiot burned them with a soldering iron.

That is definitely a problem for sure. That will need to be fixed right away before we even go into anything else, that's probably your issue right there. Looks corroded, those components will need replacement and have the whole area cleaned, then the traces need to be checked for damage. Could be burned too, either way that needs fixing

Yeah I knew it was definitely a problem not sure if it is THE problem though. Do you think you could give me a reading of the component if you have a spare trinity mobo? I have a few 33 ohm resistors and one 68 ohm resistor, willing to buy others if needed. If you get the reading, please tell me the reading of each resistor.

EDIT: I put pressure on the south bridge to see if there was any new behavior but there was nothing. I guess that is expected though because we cannot find out anything without replacing those damaged resistors first. Oh a would isopropyl alcohol with 100% alcohol content be good enough to clean the area?

Sorry to be a disturbance but do you think you could read all four instead of just 3 because the spacing between the resistor that appears to be not corroded and the other 3 that are corroded is very short so it would be easier for me to replace all four and that way I can be on the safe side.

I have the two resistors in the middle, the vertical one on the left is 10, the other horizontal one is 100. My meter is being stupid with the caps right now..

No problem. Let me know once you get the rest. Thanks for all your help :)
Are any of them mega ohm?

Hi,

Any help on the reading of the value of the resistors from anyone is much appreciated.
As ultimate360 said the values of R6A6 and R6A5, i have checked and the value of C6A2 is 10Kohms,but if someone could check it...
Have a nice day

I decided to just go to the store to buy a multimeter for $5 tomorrow but will only be able to probably use it on Monday because I am busy pretty much the whole day tomorrow but thanks anyway. I will also use it to find out the value of your resistor that got damaged. Yeah, I read your thread :)

Haha, thanks, by the way, i just noticed that C6A2 is a cap and not a resistor, my bad, i just woke up.

Wait so your telling me that, that is a capacitor and not a resistor? If so, do you know how much the value is? I know this seems like a n00bish question which is why I am posting in this part of the forum but how did you identify that it was a capacitor and not a resistor?

Because of the name, if it starts with an R is a Resistor and if it starts with a C is a Capacitor, if you look them carefully, the resistor is black and the capacitor is slightly different, look at those big Caps, you will see the letter C, but if you look near the HANA, you will see the letter R.

Here there is a pic of a SMD cap http://img.chinaqualitycrafts.com/nimg/a8/a9/8c6e2d823e3e37ae3ecb33473820-0x0-0/high_voltage_strong_style_color_b82220_disc_ceramic_capacitor_strong_10kv_10mm.jpg
