I have just picked up one of the above but it freezes on boot or e79 error, is it possible to rip the r2d2 sounds from the nand and flash them into a replacement board so I can keep the system sounding the same?
plus what revision of board do these have?

Remove any attached storage devices (this includes the HDD) and see if the console boots.

Those sounds are stored on a separate chip - they can be changed with a JRP.

yeh I have thought of that, but was hoping to try and keep it looking stock or might just to a rjtag to it, was thinking that it might be possible as it's just an audio tone for start and eject

Is this box a virgin box or has it been modified in the past? Sounds like u will need to RGH it and rebuild a stable NAND.

yes it is a virgin never been soldered to, i got the whole thing with gta v for £20, only thing the lad would not let me have was the gold controller(damn) but if i can get this sorted world be nice sitting under my tv.
just need to work out what board it is and get the relevant parts for the rjtag (thats what they use now i think) and go from there.

There's a motherboard guide on the forum here mate, depending on board you may need extra hardware as later boxes need postfix adapter
Is the gta v original as if its a copy then chances are the box had been flashed

Have you verfied its a virgin? Best have a look and see if it's been touched. I seen tons of "never been modded" consoles that are buggered from sh*tty atempts at modding.

yeh I am sure as the lad is an engineer for the company I work for and plays on live all the time and even when I mentioned to him about modding it for him said no not interested in modding, so I am 100% that it's a virgin console possible that it's a failed update or a south bridge chip problem, need some more thermal paste to reassemble and do some more testing
