With the Xbox 360 coming out, will MS still pay attention to the original xbox? For example- make games, keep the original xbox live, etc.

i remember somewhere them saying they would still make games after the 360 is launched but edventually it will die out..
When the PS2 was released they where still producing games for the PS, but not many Heavy Hitters...
MSFT said they were going to suppord the xbox till 2007. So if people want to still make games for it then they will.

they will probably keep releasing games for the xbox 1 for the next 12 months, and it will slow down, the usual trend is to release budget/kids games on a dying console so you can buy a cheapo xbox and give it someone young while the big boys n girls play 360 etc
theres still a huge user base of xbox 1 owners and itll take a long time for a new console to catch up, so all these owners who cant afford a new machine will want games

I remember hearing about Micrisoft planning on releaseing some games that will wotk on both consoles. Same game just better looking on the XBOX360. Sort of 2 birds with 1 stone. You still sell games to people with the old hardware but give incentive for them to get the newer hardware.

well if you take a look around and see which titles are yet to be released for xbox... a LOT and most of them very GOOD games! so even if they stop releasing games after the end of this year, we'll have lots of games to keep ourselves busy

360 live and xbox live are gonna be on the same network thus people playing a game on 360 that was also released in a xbox 1 version can play together. said something to that extent in the E3 con.

I really hope m$ concentrates more than anything on the xbox360 (they undoubtedly will). This machine will be/is amazing. They are really trying to get more than just avid gamers on board with this next console and have the brains and, let's face it, the money with which to do it. At a rumored cost of 300 bucks, you can't go wrong for the sheer power and hardware in this puppy. This new one is actually more worth your cash then the old one (given hardware availability/capability at the release of both) and i'm looking very forward to see what the modding community has to offer. I'm thinkin' they are going to do something like an emulation for the most popular games on xbox such as halo and halo 2. i highly doubt however, that they will fully support backward compatibility for every title. This is because nvidia made the original video chipset on the xbox and ati is making the new one. Ati and nvidia, as most people know, are enemys in the graphics chip market and are always one-upping one another. So for nvidia to give ati the source code and architecture of it's original chip in the xbox would be like microsoft publically releasing source code to windows xp; not gonna happen! So now ati is stuck trying to emulate a way to render all these games that aren't all technically the same when it comes to the way graphics are produced. so my guess is they will focus on emulating just the extremley popular games as i mentioned above since that's what the majority of the users are playing right now. it's a lot better than reverse engineering something and i think it's illegal to do that anyway? can anyone confirm or deny that last statement?
in short:
m$ is focused on the new xbox360 with good reason and the days of xbox are coming to an end (officially anyway. i'm nowhere near done playing with modding) as all systems have before. i think it is safe to say this system has been the most influentual, versatile, and entertaining console of its time.

Absolutely, just SUCH a shame for it to be going, I have loved modding my XBOX and it is the reason that I can now solder to an advanced level and have learnt so much about electronics during the last year. And its going all because of Playstation/sony (i say them because if they didnt exist, xbox360 wouldn't be made & released so soon). Dreamcast was a fantastic console and extremely powerful at the time (like the xbox today), then sony/ps2 was the reason for its stopped games. This is why I hate Sony/Playstation & I hope that MS with the xbox360 really beat the c**p out of sony in the next console war.

Whilst I think the commercial side of Xbox will die, the homebrew scene will live on. I haven't used my Xbox for games in ages, yet it's been on at least every other day. The other uses for the Xbox far outweigh anything else right now.
