open it up, take the drive out, theres a screw on the rear by the ports and on the a few on the bottom. after that the plastic mount comes loose then its connected by a sata and another wire, possiblt another sata.

the 4gb memory is a small square PCB raised off the motherboard. under the drive I think

Just got a xbox 360 4Gb slim which has nothing on display then it shows red blinking light

anyone know what could be wrong ?
So no history of the console. What's the score here? What's been done to it already? What have you already tried? What do your initial tests show?

Possibly send it to someone who repairs consoles will be the best solution, no? Then once they've worked out what the issue is I'm sure that (for a fee) they'll educate you in the process.

Suppose you could try to RGH it and rebuild the NAND, in case it's an update error of sorts.

Failing that, you might have a genuine RRoD on your hands.....

Had the same exact problem with my Xbox. It's a shortage problem, if you have any pieces of metal in your USB ports or other ports, pull them out carefully while your Xbox is unplugged from the power brick. If not, clean out your power out. Blow the dirt out with a air duster if you have one. Clean up the whole port. I had thermal paste on mine from when I tried to re-apply it to my CPU and got some on there, it elect a trail straight to the metal shell and shorted causeing the whole problem.

I doubt he's spent 6 years working on this console
I realized that after I replied. I figure he probably pitched it or sold it by now
