I was trying to install my new mod chip for ages, but everytime I pluged it in it would just start up three times and then flash orange and green. I have not compleatly removed the mod chip and unslodered everything, but now the xbox does exactly the same thing but now without any chip being there. Have I compleatly destroyed my xbox now :( Is there anything I can do?

You should remove everything. If you did a pinheader, remove that, or wire install remove it. You goal should be to get the Xbox working in stock form before you try to go foward with installing the chip.

Now that everything has been removed and unsoldered grab a good light and a magnifying glass and look for damage to the LPC area.

Yep I have done that, I have cleaned everything up as well. But I was holding a soldering iron on the bord for a long time, so I guess thats probably went wrong.
I will probably get a new box :(

But is there anyway to tell if I have fragged the MC, I put it on several diffrent ways because I was not sure from the tutorials cos it looked slightly diffrent! But I'm guessing if u use the pin head adapter it fits on with the arow pointing towards the outside of the case, right?

Also is there anyway to get another pinhead adapter? Thanks...

Before you even try adding the chip back you have to get the Xbox working, otherwise you will never be able to determine where your problem is coming from. On another note, see my sig for a definition of FRAG. You can't "frag" a modchip.

Ok, but I dont see how I can get the xbox to work. Its fraged, I have cleaned all the tracks up. Also checked them, but cant find a problem. None of the tracks look broken, what else can I do?

See my sig for a definition of frag. Your Xbox can't be "fragged". Did you check the traces with a multimeter to verifiy that there is no damage? That is the only way you can be sure they are good. The damage may be too small to see with the naked eye.

Why isnt it fragged, it starts up three times and then flashes green and red! There is also no visual ouput, except for a slight static click on the TV when it turns on and off!

Nevermind about the definition, you don't seem to get it. Anyway, get out a multimeter and do some testing, that is the only way to find the problem. I have a feeling you will be buying a new Xbox.

Yes, I think that too! In fact I'm positive that I will have to, but I was wondering is there anyway the mod chip could be screwed now too. And if so, if I place it in a new box will it blow that?

Also is there anyway I can buy a new pinhead adapter, I broke the one the mod chip came with when I took it out! Thanks...

Where are you located? I may have an extra pinheader sitting around I could send. If not, you could always get one at radio shack or a place like that. I doubt the chip is bad, and there is even less of a chance of your chip wrecking your Xbox.

I'm in the US so it wouldn't be worth it to ship the pinheader. You should be able to find one at an electronics store though.

I have a 12 pin header, but I supose this is too small! How big does it have to be, something like 16 pins big? Can I get away with using this smaller pin adapter?
Thanks!

Ok, I fould a 4 pin section of an old pin header. So with that and the 12 pin header I have I soldered them onto my brand new version 6 or what ever xbox, thats the one where I had to use the part to re build the tracks!

That all went great put it back together and tryed it, and again it didnt boot propperly :( It flashesh green and then turns orange and turns off a couple times and then turns off compleatly, the modchip also flashes, but only when I have the external switches pulged in. With out them it just does nothing, I have tryed it with the modchip enabled and disabled and the same thing.

If I unplug it then xbox starts up fine :)

Is this a bad solder point, or do I need to get another modchip? Bearing in mind this is the same one that I put in the old box which died on me? Thanks again...

Hope I can sort this out soon!

Does it flash green and red or green and orange? You must have the switches connected in order for it to work.

What do you mean when you unplug the Xbox it works?

It flashes green once turns off, starts up flashes orange turns off, starts up flashes orange and then finaly turns off all together.

I mean if I unpulg the chip from the pin header the box starts up normally, what do u mean switches?

You have to have the switches plugged into the chip in order for it to work.

It flashes orange and then turns off but doesn't turn back on? What video cables are you using?

No it flashes orange turns off, then turns on again and flashes green, turns off again and turns on again and flashes green once more and then turns off compleatly. It doesnt come back on again!

I'm using a scart lead, the one with lots of pins... But it only does all this with the mod chip pluged in, if I take it off the pins but leave the hdd and d0 ect wire and 5 volt wire pluged in still it boot up normally. it only with it pluged into the pins that it does all this.
