Hey I just bought a pre-modded X3 and when I flash the X3 bios with Flashbios 3.0.3 (its v1.6b) it flashes and shuts down correctly. When its then powered it tries to boot but shuts off within 3 seconds but dosent FRAG.

I thought that it was maybe a bad chip install but when I flashed the X2 bios it booted right up and I was able to use Slayers (I had an error 16 so I had to use the auto installer to reinstall the dash). Everything is working fine now including the MS Dash but if I try to reflash the X3 bios I get the same error and have to reflash X2 to get back to Slayers Evox.

I dont know much about soldering (why I bought the pre-mod) but it sounds like the LPC 13 &14 error so I was wondering if I open the box how will I able be able to tell if the install is wrong (the tutorial didnt say how to recognize if its wrong)?

Sorry for such a noob question but I've never soldered before.

Thanks

X3 2394 v16 renamed to bios.bin. Ive tried both on-on-off-off and off-on-off-off.

I just bought the Torx screwdrivers (had to buy a $16 dollar kit damn radioschack) so Im ready to go if I have to check the LPC

take it you mean 3294...

Thats the right bios for sure...
So you boot Flashbios 3.03 with switches set off,on,off, off then whilst its still powered you change the switches to on,on,off, off before you flash. Correct?

I took it all apart and looked at the soldering on both sides of the motherboard looked alright but I really dont know what Im lookin at lol.

The box basically does what I wanted the chip for its just disappointing that the bios specifically made for my chip dosen't work. Im more or less resolved to accept it because I dont trust the seller enough to send it back. However if anyone does repairs on Long Island in New York PM me and let me know as I would be very interested, I just dont want to send the box away.

Have you tried setting the default CFL settings by booting up the x3 bios whilst holding A+B+X+Y (hold till the box shuts down).

Hey, I'm having the same problem with my X3 - it flashes fine but when you restart the xbox it comes on for a second, then turns right off. I managed to flash both memory banks with Bioses that don't work and so now I can't start the modchip up at all! So, I can't try to load the X2 bios, unfortunately.

What gives? I have a solderless adapter and it seems like it's installed fine. I guess I'll have to buy a programmer because I can't boot from the 256 backup for some reason (never would do it). Apparently the Spider programmer works with the X3.
