Xbox eeprom chip *need help*

i have a 1.6 xbox mobo,
the problem is that the mobo no long works and my 120 gig hd is locked to the 1.6
i know, lotta ppl gonna say its impossible to unlock the hd but, wat if i take the eeprom chip from the 1.6 and put it onto another box...right now the only spare box mobo i have is a 1.5

questions:
1. can i do that?
2. if so where is the chip located, i know the eeprom chip on the 1.5 but not the 1.6?
3. Can someone send me a link to a site with pics of the 1.6 eeprom chip

How did you lock the hard drive to the 1.6 motherboard?

i unlocked my hd from my current box, placed it in the 1.6, used slayers to lock it

I may be missing the point, but can't you unlock the HD from FlashBIOS? I've never had to do it, so I'm not too sure. Couldn't you put the HD in your 1.5 Xbox, boot to FlashBIOS (if the 1.5 m/b is chipped), and unlock it from there?

Like I say, I'm not too sure. Maybe someone else can clear up my confusion too!
