After 2 weeks of an non-working X3 install on a 1.6 box I decided just about 30mins ago, to just un-solder everything and start back at square one. So I removed the +5v,D0 +2 wires, and broke down the LPC Buildup. I wasn't able to remove the pin header off the board, So I decided to leave it alone and just re-work it there with the solder pen. Well anyways I put everything back together just to see if the xbox would even fire up. Sure enough I get 2x Start up Red/green flashing

UPDATE: I just removed the Pin head still no luck system will still FRAG any ideas?

Does anyone have a clue on whats going on, I woulden't think leaving the pin head in would cause any problem seeing how its just bare wire poles with nothing connecting them.

This is the third Chip I have installed, and unforently has been my worst experince out of the 3 trying to install. Is there something "SPECIAL" about the 1.6xbox that makes it a pain in the azz. The other 2 chips were soldered flawlessly on a 1.3 Xenium Ice and 1.4 X-chip. anyone have any Ideas?

If you ever get a frag with an Xbox with nothing installed, then it's usually a trace problem or a short from stray solder. There's not much else I can tell you, as a FRAG covers too many things.

1) Did the other 2 times you tryed installing the mod chip work?
2) Did you know that the 1.6 needs a few more wires and they are in dif places? Just checking...
3) PLZ i know it is hard but take you time and make good solder conections. It will save you a lot of time. Also you must have the 5v conected for it to work.
4) Enuf Q plz let me know and i will help if i can...

PS. I think i'm the only one up at this Hr of the morning but i just got my xbox working so... The ppl that can realy help you should be on later...

Ok so whats a trace?
A trace is a copper 'line' on a PCB which joins two points together.

You telling me you couldn't search these forums for the word 'trace' to figure that out ??

check your d0 point, you might have fuked it up when removing one of the previous chipc or this chip. if it's fuked up, then you need to repair it. check the tutorials for a trace repair guide i think.

--Quick INTERESTING question--

Ok so I been thinking about how we need to mod our xboxes to play our backed up games, today I went to Best Buy and exchanged my xbox for a new slim one and in the package came this card which offered me a full game *DOWNLOAD* which will like me redeem a game from the market place and play it from my hard drive. like this game I downloaded this map package for MW2 a while back and after downloading it i changed my accounts and went to play online what i noticed is that even though I was on a different account I could play the content that was downloaded on my harddrive.

So here's my question since we can download full games from on demand and store them on our HDDs and then play them without a DVD, and since we can change accounts and still be able to use the content in our HDDs does this also mean that we could take these contents that we download on to our HDDs put them on a flash drive and put them on our computers and make copys of those contents and share them with our oh so legal community?

Re: --Quick INTERESTING question--

I believe those downloads are registered to that specific xbox, and if you try putting your hdd in another xbox to use the conent it will not work unless you recover your gamer tag to the new console. It's a good thought though, and someone may find a way to bypass it one day. Just not yet.
