Xbox FRAGGED but FlashBIOS boots

OK, I'm working on a friend's Xbox and he as an old X3. I tried booting it but it fraggs with no video or audio. Then I try to boot to FlashBIOS and that works... doesn't that mean the chip is installed properly? I tried to flash the X3 bios to the 1234 bank, it flashed but when verifying it, it froze and I had to turn the Xbox off. Then I tried 5678, same results. Well I thought that the 1mB banks are messed up so I tried a 256k X2 bios, and it flashes, verifies, and then shuts off. Then I try to boot to that bios and it FRAGS!!!

What the heck is the problem?

OK, I went back and reread the flashing tutorial and I now see that the yellow bar means erasing, and the green means flashing. Therefore the problem is not verifying but flashing.

are there any error on flashbios screen
try without bios switch board hookup to chip

There are no FlashBIOS errors, however after it froze, and it is stuck at that screen, as I turn it off for a split second it says "Programming Failed:..." I cant read the rest thaty fast. As for the switch I tried that, but it didn't help.

I tried loading an X2 Bios on it and oddly enough it worked, then I tried an EvoX bios and that worked, I went back to try an X3... no luck. I dont know whats wrong with it but I guess I should be happy. I have already gave the Xbox back to my friend so any more suggestions I cant try but thanks for your help!

did you try without bios switch
i say it still your install

Well I remember years ago when I first installed the chip it smoked the first time I turned it on, however it still worked...maybe the effects of the bad install are just now surfacing (although I reinstalled it many times). Yes, I did unplug the switch.

i think your smokeing theroy sounds the best only reason why i am saying that is cause same sort of thing happend to a chip of mine it whould flash fine but whouldn't hold a BIOS of any kind no matter what i put on there tryed flashing it in 2 different prefectly working xboxs but still no response
