So I've had an x3 installed and working in my box for a few months now and when Halo 2 came out I went on Live and got banned with my 250gb hdd. I got a new eeprom and loaded it onto my xbox and then put in my stock unmodded hdd and was able to play on live just fine for a about 2 weeks now. I just swapped back to my modded drive with all my stored games and apps and when I turn on my box it frags and gives me an error #6 (hdd problem) both when I boot with the chip on and off. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this?

This is because you have reinstalled a locked 250GB HDD and the eeprom no longer has the key to unlock it. You should have unlocked the 250GB drive before removing it. The only way to fix it is to unlock the 250GB drive before reinstalling it. If you have a backup of your eeprom from when the 250GB HDD was installed you could restore it and unlock the drive, if not how to go about recovering is dependant on how it was locked in the first place (e.g. X3CL, ConfigMagic, etc). If you can find the master password of the program used to lock it you could unlock it using a PC with UnlockX.exe, for example the MP for ConfigMagic is "TEAMASSEMBLY" otherwise you could try also this:

There may be other solutions so try google "XBOX error code 6"

I have the backup info from my original eeprom and have the hdd password, but if I update this password in my eeprom than will I be able to use my stock hdd? Since I don't plan on getting on live with my 250gb hdd I don't need to have it locked at all do I?

Ok well if I plan to be switching back and forth between the two drives for xbox live play, what is the best thing for me to do? I obviously can't have two hdd passwords in the eeprom (in fact I can't even change the pw that is there with config magic)
