so I tried to install the x3 CE a few times with no sucess. THe D0 point is gone and a couple of other small D0-like points have been disappeared due to over heating. I took out everything and now the xbox FRAGs after flashing green and yellow + shut down + flashing green and yellow + shut down...

would it be due to the little points being destroyed?

The short answer would be yes, that could cause you some problems. When you destroy a trace on the motherboard, you basically destroy the motherboard. (Some might be able to fix)

Oh yes...u need them all good i'm afraid..
find someone who can attempt to rebuild these track/via's.
(i'm not being disrepectful) you may not have the skill to do as they got damaged in the first place.

Your posts describes that there are at least three to be repaired and if they are all d0 size pads then some soldering skill is needed to repair them ..

or if all else fails purchase another motherboard.

i guess i will get one of those used motherboards and start over again. Or I can try to fix those broken dots.

I have a question, let's say that you are looking at the back of the motherboard, and the dot/circle that you have broken is linked to another circle by what's called a trace, is it ok just to solder to the different circle instead of the broken on? And why/how does a broken circle on the board cause problems since they were dead ends anyway?

Nah they are not dead ends
look at the circles carefully.
you will see that they go right thru the mother board from component side to solder side.

These are known as Via's (pron..VIYER).

u will also note that they link traces on both the top and the bottom of the board...also the board is multiple layers ie there is a sandwich with traces sandwiched between the top and bottom...some of these via's connect to traces on these other layers too.
They don't usually go nowhere.

u can repair some by finding the next available via along from the damged via trace it back and then make good on the opposite side of the board where there is still a circle to solder to...depending on the location and nature of the damage it may be necesary to follow the trace in both directions and make good in both directions.

hope that explains it...

thanks for the explaination. I will see what I can do to save my xbox, otherwise I will find a used motherboard and plug it in.
