Ok, Im posting this for a friend who has an 1.0 Xbox that frezzes after about 2-3 minuets of gameplay. It woulnt eboot or anything else... its really wierd.

Sounds like an overheating Xbox - get him to try it with the lid off and the DVD and HDD outside the Xbox.

If he has lights, tell him to take some out if he has too many, get a fan under the HDD, cut the HDD tray for better flow, and get a bigger fan behind the HDD, Those are all things I did to fix my problem with my 1.1 Box.
I had this problem just recently, after years of my xbox working perfect, turns out the fan pooped out, wasn't sure if it was the fan or the mobo not feeding power so I got a new fan and spliced into my HD power supply for it. Check the temps in the dash to see if this is your problem.
