Hi all,
I'm a newb with modding the xbox, but I have followed all instructions so far and searched through the forums. So here's the deal:

I have an Xecuter 3CE chip and an xapter solderless adapter for 1.6b. I had everything working, the bios, avalaunch, AID 3.0 etc. It was working fine with the first 4 or 5 games that I backed up. Could play them no problem. Then I was backing up another game and my xbox froze completely. I turned it off, turned it back on, and now the X only goes to red. If I go into 256k mode, it works, but each time I try to flash the bios with the latest 3294 v1.6b bios, I get an unknown bios error. I have checked the protection switch on the chip itself and it is off. I have disconnected the front panel and tried flashing but it still does not work. I have tried flashing from different cd's, dvd's and from http:// but it still gives me an unknown bios error. Can anyone help? It's v3.0.1.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply. I have tried that as well. I actually took the solderless adapter completely out and then reseated everything. The wires through all the via's, even soldered the 5v line. Reseated the chip, and still no go. Anything else I should try? Or is this chip hooped?

So I started from scratch again...I've discovered that my Xbox does not see my modchip properly. When booting the flashbios, I get Flash type: Read Only ??? manf=0x09, dev=0x00. Seems to me that this means the flash protection is enabled. I have checked both my front panel switch as well as the switch on the modchip. They are both off. Seems like there's something wrong with the chip. Does anyone know of any other way to turn the flash protection off? Thanks in advance.

Tried that as well and no luck. Still not able to read the chip. Looks like I might just have to buy a new one.
