I have a 2 year old xbox, it works fine, no disc reading problems, no freezing etc. now there's this place where they flash consoles, but every time I get my console flashed it gets really slow during the start up, the xbox logo in the starts just sits there for more than 30 seconds and the the game itself loads very slowly and after a couple of minutes every thing starts to work in a slowass way, this would happen every time untill I have to open the console, unplug both the wires from thee drive, clean the laser and then put every thing back on. and every thing works perfectly. but the problem is, this happens almost every time I get it flashed. I cant get the get the kit since there's no way to get it from my country so I have get it flashed, but the fact that I have to fix it every time after flashing is driving me crazy.
Can anybody tell me what the real problem is:confused: Please help

note: Last time I got it flashed it in march, it got really slow and I had to unplug the drive cables and clean the lens to fix it up. worked with no problems for the last 7 months. Now I got it flashed the other day and it started slowing down just like it did last time and again I had to fix it.

Do you know what type of drive you have? Sounds to me like you probably have a Phat Lite-On that they need to open up each time to obtain your drive key. They aren't very good workmen if they get your lens dirty though.

Did you try other things before cleaning the laser i.e. how did you work out it was the laser that was the problem?

thanks for reply. yeah, it's a phat liteon. I took the drive off cleaned the laser and plugged it back on, not sure if it's the laser or the cable that causes this problem. can a lose cable in the drive cause slow down?
