my experience limited!
after hours ... got the lights 2 red, 1 orange, 1 green & 1 blue!!!

and the sceen comes up with asking to Flashbios 3.0.3
the switch are set ON ON OFF OFF OFF

wireless network at home... through IE i flash the 3.0.3 it looks like fine, goes trhough the installation ... and then it switches itself off... when i turn it on... i get the same screen asking me again to flash the bios... did it agian... nothing happens....

if anyone has a clue... i would appriciate it.....

very new on the xbox - decided i need to media centre

Yes - read the troubleshooting guides.

If you're flashing FlashBIOS 3.0.3 to your chip, what exactly did you expect to appear!!!!

i was actually expecting once its flashed once... when i would start it again to take into another screen - the last screen of this guide...

is just a small .bin file.... do i need anything else?

you need x3 3294 v16 plus bios from #xbins

flashbios is the bios you use to flash the chip with thats on your chip allready put your switch too off on off off off you should see flashbios 3.0.3 work with v1.6b xbox
if not put switch too on on off off off you should get flashbios 3.0.1 work with v1.6 xbox

when you get bios you need to unzip it it will have two diff bios one for v1.0 to v1.5 xbox and one for v1.6 v1.6b xbox use the one x3 3294 v16

Sounds like your flashing your xbox over and over again with flashbios 3.03 correct? You need to go to Xbins and download the x3 bios and flash it with that. Flashbios 3.03 is what comes on the chip so you can flash with a different bios. You have just been flashing with the same bios that was already on the chip to begin with.

A: FlashBIOS is a legal BIOS which gives you the ability to flash another BIOS to it. It cannot boot backups, imports or homebrew software.

Q: I'm booting FlashBIOS 3.0.1 - do I need to update it to 3.0.3?
A: No. There is no advantage in doing this. You will still be left with FlashBIOS.

Q: I've just flashed FlashBIOS 3.0.1 to my chip. It flashes fine but then when I reboot, it looks the same.
A: You just flashed your chip with another copy of FlashBIOS - nothing has changed, therefore nothing's different.

Q: Ok - what am I supposed to flash to the chip?
A: A hacked BIOS. They are illegal which is why you won't find one on this site. Go to #xbins on EFNet and you'll see how to access the #xbins FTP Server.

Q: There are loads to choose from - which one is best for me?
A: Since you have an X3, flash the latest X3 BIOS if you have a 1.0-1.5 and the v16plus version of the latest BIOS if you have a 1.6/1.6b.

at least now it makes sense!!!! i am getting there... however, I think I made a mess... anyone knows the solution to this one?

Instead of flashing x3 3294 v16 I flashed the other one for the 1.5 version... and when i tried to flash it...... on the screen i got an error saying couldnt delete and switched off.. after that when i switch on i get the FRAG light.... !!!! i am at the border of throwing it out of the window.. and i m cursing didnt sent it away to have done ((

There's a switch on the chip itself. make sure it's set so a RED light is emitting from the chip and not GREEN.

Also, check to make sure the external switch unit is connected properly.

So you're not even booting to FlashBIOS any more??

If not, then you already tried to flash the wrong BIOS and it was successfully written to the chip. Boot the backup BIOS power&eject), leaving the switches set to on on off off off so that when it boots, you can reflash this bank.

anyway.. tried to boot as you said.... got the purple light... still a blank screen .. with the switches as you said.... after a while a get an orange button...

and again the same.... 3 resets and frag

this is my worse nightmare!!
