Everything appears to be working fine except when you load a game, after the usual HDD access noises, it returns to the dash menu. Original DVD's and from HDD.
The BIOS on boot (before it looks at the HD) looks for a default.xbe file within the DVD drive. If there isn't one there, it looks to the dashboard priority boot list for a dashboard located somewhere on thr HD.
I don't know, but maybe your BIOS isn't looking at d:\default.xbe first....? What BIOS are you using?
Also, maybe your DVD drive is dead? Does it load stuff located on the DVD from the dash, or XBMC?
Craig - I'd just about given up. To become an "Xbox Guru" presumably all you do is post hundreds of stupid replies? Quantity not quality.

As far as I am aware the DVD is working. I can boot EvoX from CD OK just not a game, original or otherwise. When I attempt to run a game the Xbox just loops back to the dash. I have also tried to run Configmagic with the same results. I have erased e:/cache and reformatted x,y & z. I have ensured parental control is set to No Limits and the region is set to PAL I. The xbox has been working without fault for over a year. My son had finished playing a game did an IGR. The xbox hasn't loaded a game since.
