ok first off from the sticky i think i have pre 1.6b.

i purchased a crystal xbox from canada 2weeks ago. ntsc format.

manufacture date 8/20/04
ram samsung
dvd is philips.

i am hoping this is 1.6 or earler. but is there any other way to tell? i don't have to buy an x3 if i have a 1.6b until the bios issue is fixed.

other questions i have are. is the samsung ram the best ram in the current xboxes? and how is the philips dvd? does it have issues reading any type of dvd or cdr disks?

Thanks
Warzer
PS i am total xbox newb

EDIT: based on the xbox scene i have 1.6 Woot! any chance of getting a guide for the others or maybe answers?

L-o-erase

Hi all, I just wanted to bring something up that I don't fully understand.. I've modded every drive multiple times, and every time I run into a lite-on 7 model, the only way I can get it into vendor mode is by clicking the l-o-erase button, turning the power to the drive off and then on, and then clicking intro, outro, and then intro again. Weird isn't it?

I understand that most people click intro, wait for the dots, power off and then on quickly, but that never, EVER works for me. The dots just keep going and won't stop until I close jungleflasher..

I'm just asking, why does l-o-erase worke, but the normal intro dosn't work? I don't have a via card, I just use my pc's motherboard, I use windows xp 32 bit and jungleflasher for flashing. If you know why this happens, let me know. Thanks!

Re: L-o-erase

it all depends on your chipset and exactly when you turn off then on the drive!
dont power cycle until the end of the first row of dots!
vary your timings - can make a large difference!
