Hi there, I just modded my v1.0 with X3 (Bios build 1959), with X3 enabled works fine, but if I try to boot into original Xbox Bios disabling the chip with the power button (> 1 seg), Xbox powers up, X3 Led turns Red and after 1 to 2 seconds Xbox turns off by itself.
If I try to do it from Config Live, X3 Led Red but I only get a blank screen (it does not turns off as opossed if I do it by the power button) and from there nothing happens.

By the way another strange behavior since I had previously X2 is that now it will not run DVD-X2 (DVD Multiregion player), as soon as it tries, it stays there for a few seconds and I am returned to the dashboard, I have tried executing the DVD-X2 as the quickstart up option and it does not work as well, files are not corrupted I have downloaded them several times and tried the same files in a friend's Xbox with X2 and they are fine.

Any help is appreciated.

How To Flash Samsung MS28 in 2010?

So I just picked up an old school 360 with the original Dashboard (D:2.0.5766.0) and a Samsung MS28 drive.

I've tried following Textbook's tutorials - both pdf and video - but they are apparently outdated and I'm having issues.

I'm using Windows 7 and have downloaded everything I think I need from #xbins including recent toshiba/samsung firmware, iprep, xtreme boot maker, and firmtool v1.2.

The machine is open, and I'm trying to create the bootable USB but I'm not sure which program to use. iPrep is giving me the error "A valid firmware source was not selected - only non patched firmwares can be loaded" I don't understand what that is supposed to mean, I tried to load the firmware rar straight from xbins, as well as the .bin file inside the rar file, and both give this message.

I'm at a stand still, and not clear on what needs to happen next.

All help is much appreciated!

Re: How To Flash Samsung MS28 in 2010?

thanks for the response! alright, well I followed the jungleflasher tutorial, and I believe I now have a modded console. awesome!

now, as far as jtagging goes, basically this allows you to run homebrew stuff on the machine as in xbmc, and custom dashes, etc.? That would be neat to have, however, I've looked up tutorials and it seems the only way to JTAG the console is through ordering a few more parts and soldering things? That seems a little intensive. Is there a better way to JTAG without the need to solder anything?

Yes do the JTAG,it will be worth it...You can also pay people online to JTAG your console for you..Id recommend doing that :)

So what would be the most user friendly JTAG kit? Its killing me to click no update and not be able to play my games - especially after the successful flash! Hope I can hold out long enough to JTAG...

Re: How To Flash Samsung MS28 in 2010?

So I would need to order the Nand-X, solder it to my board, then do some stuff with freeboot and a usb drive and xell, and it should be good to go? There's gotta be an all inclusive tutorial on how to do all this right? But more importantly, an explanation of what all this does and means! I see post after post, and video after video talking about "dumping your nand," and loading xell, and freeboot, etc. - but I've never seen what this all means, or why its done...I'm a newbie just trying to understand WHY this is all done - not just how.

You can download the 2.0.7371 dashboard update from MS and install that to your console. You can find a link to it on Google somewhere. You can play all your games but its still 'old' enough to let you Jtag your console. PLus its recommended to update to that first before dumping the NAND etc.

As for learning, just keep scouting the web for info and watching vids on youtube. Thats what I did (took me a while to get a good grasp of it) and I've jtagged 3-4 consoles so far in the one day. Easy Peasy! :)

@Farly you rock. Thanks for the advice on updating to 7371! Update is done, and now I can play my games while remaining jtaggable - its the best of all worlds!

Question - have you been using Nand-X to JTAG, or homemade components?

USB is a lot faster

NANDx works great buts going to cost you

if you have an LPT port and are patient, it works great

I don't have an LPT port, but I'm sure I could install one. Does a USB jtag require homemade wires and resistors though?

Yea I will probably have to use Team Xecuter's products. Just came to the unfortunate reality that all my games from 2010 still require an update past 7371 to play :/
