So I modded my xbox and everything works perfectly fine even xbox live. But then i was stupid and thought that i could try to play backed up games on live on a differant subscription that was about to expire. Then I used my cousins xbox and eeprom so that it would work agin. Everything worked fine but after two days i was banned agin. After one random day on the xbox dashboard I come to find out that there are files under games saves lik Unleash X, and most of the emulators that I had taken form my cousins xbox. So any way i figure that this was the problem, so i was just wandering if i could move the files to a new location so that the original dash does not see them and then get a new eeprom. (though i have not tried anything yet) Just thought some one might have had the same problem that can help me if not i will just mess with it and figure something out.

Did you replace the HDD too? Xbox live takes note of the Xbox Serial number, HDD Key and the HDD Serial number. If you ever get banned, it's almost compulsary to get a new HDD too.

Yes I put a 300 gig hard drive in. And I have been banned three times with the same hard drive useing differant eeproms, but with little luck other than that. Like I said before there are files on the MS dash(original dash) under games saves that should not be there like all of my Imulators and Unleash X. I read on the internet that xbox live scans the hard drive and looks and recent games saves and stuff like that making me think that they find those files that are not games saves and then bans me for it........

It's the actual HDD which is getting you banned. I believe that the Bungie (Halo) servers check for misplaced files, but don't think they will ban you from Xbox Live altogether.

There have been cases whereby people have had their evox dashboard removed from the HDD. As I said before and again here - it's the HDD itself. You will need a new one.

It's actually nothing to do with it being the original HDD. It's purely down to the fact that the HDD has already been associated with a banned Xbox.

I Have used the eeprom trick and changed a few times but isn't it also the serail? Isn't their a way to change that via configmagic or will that just totaly screw up my xbox? I can't just sit here with a 300 gig hard drive with a crap load of stuff on it and just throw it all away! There has to be somthing I can do to get back on xbox live.(but I guess I will just have to buy and xbox 360 for my live fetish)

Alright I thought about it and I had an excelent idea. What if i used an old hard drive I have lieing around and put basic software on it and used it along side the larger hard drive. Mainly just for xbox live, but I would need some sort of swich to change back and forth so that the cheap hard dirve stays untainted. If not does some one have another idea that I can use?? I really love xbox live and how easy it is. I have been thinking about carp for a few months now but not much has come to me.

There are plenty of solutions for this configuration - I haven't any direct links but there are products whereby you keep one HDD unlocked (so you cannot boot it to Live ever again) and a clean one locked. You can change the boot device by moving a switch. Two things:

You will need an unbanned EEPROM for this

You can only use one HDD at a time.

So after some research I found a tutorial and xbox-scene.com. So I am basing it off of that. I orderd all the cables and crap I need, and I was looking into getting an untaped hard drive from ebay. I figured that I could just get an un modded hard drive and just hook it up. But I have been told that I need to lock the hard drive to the mother board, and I would need non original files on the hard drive to do so. So what I was thinking is that I could just use an evox boot disc with the new hard drive and then ftp config magic to lock the drive, or just have it on the boot disc, then just delete it off as soon as I was done. That way the hard dirve would work like a normal hard drive when I swiched it over. Right? Or is there another way to lock it with out tammpering with it at all? Just an idea of mine but I keep running in to road blocks that I can't find the answers to. And to think all this just to get xbox live back!!!

Flashbios can lock hard drives.

Copying a few files to the HDD and deleting them afterwards will not cause you any problems. Definitely stick with the ConfigMagic route, since it gives you contingency should your motherboard/eeprom fail. ConfigMagic backs up the original EEPROM to the E:\ drive afrer you lock a drive with it - just remove these afterwards too.
