My friend just got a second ethernet card, and he has 56k dialup and we play over xbc and there is no lag at all playing 6 ppl, so all u dialup ppl get online!

O-Boy more lag for us on XBL, and you won't be able to use dial up after the update, cuz they are susposed to fix it.

recommending that people bog down the online play by connectiong via dial-up is a seriously bad idea. it will reduce everyone in a game to the level of the dial up connection.

if you have a dial up connection do not burden others playing online by doing this.

it is is usually the person with the highspeed connection that will get the lag not the person cuasing it.

should also know that a ping over 200 even on highspeed connections will begin to cause lag.

whatever i play online weather it be xbox or pc games i always try to get into a game where everyone has a good ping under 250 at the most. a few things can also cause high pings like being behind a router causes really high ping but doesnt cause lag. this is becasue the router is not responding to the ping request.

if everyone did that youd here a lot less complaining about lag.

I tested dialup at a friend's house and we had good results on both Rainbow Six Three games. There didn't seem to be any lag at all. Even the voice sounded fine. Ghost Recon 2, however, wouldn't work at all. I'm sure there are a handful of games that will work fine overall dialup with not too many people in the game.

You can enable the router to respond to PINGs. It's a very easy change in the setup. If you are doing things like online gaming, I don't see why you'd want the PING disabled in the first place.

That is some SERIOUSLY high ping.

Going to piss off a lot of other players when the whole game comes to a halt.

yeah, PLEASE stop playing online games on dial up, you're stressing the high speed connections by doing this. 14000 ping, dear lord... It's a wonder it would even work!! stop doing this, it's people like you that screw up tunneled games, and I didn't even know it was possable on live, but if it is, stop doing it there too. I thought laggy games were people downloading while playing, I never even considered the possability it was a dial up user that had entered the game and lagged everyone out.

As mentioned before it's not the one with the dial up that gets the lag it's everyone else playing. Your the dopes that come onto Rainbow6 3 with only one star and F*** it up for everyone.
Stop being a tightass and get high speed.

I don't see the problem of my friend using dialup if we're playing in our own private game on XBC. Me, my brother and a few friends play online a few times during the week. If WE (the players in the private game) can tolerate it, whose business is it to tell him that he shouldn't be using dialup ? Now, for public games .... I can see how this would be a problem.

Hey,
If you want to setup a private room and play then go for it. But that's not what you said. You started a thread that said you could play on xbox live with dialup. Now every sh*thead is going to try it.

You have no idea how annoying it is for everyone who pays extra for high speed to have to deal with everyone that comes in with sh*tty connection speeds.

Actually, the thread title mentions BOTH XBL and XBC. I think that if everybody in a particular game is OK with it, then there shouldn't be a problem with it. But yes, I DO see how this would be a problem on XBL and I'm not encouraging people to try this on XBL. In my friend's case, it worked pretty decently over XBC.
