xbox live ban question

Hi there fellow modders! this is my first post. learned everything i know from you guys and was always able to search for any questions i had. and was able to get good results. but could not find any good info about what my current issue is.

i have an older Xbox with a lite-on drive. did my first mod 2-3 years ago. reason for me modding was after a lot of money spent on worthless games cause of children. i decide it was time to make backups.

anyways, i have never been concerned about playing online or connecting to Xbox live. til now. my daughter wants the game kinect party. and its only available on live. and free too.

through out the last few years of modding i have not been "text book" modding. so ran dashboard updates without switching back to stock f/w. then reflashed.

if i connect to xbox live will i be banned immediately? or does it come in "waves" like i have heard about? just need enough time to download the game she wants. also does a ban affect my console at all? or just wont let me on live any more?

Thanks again everyone on this forum. you guys are great!

thanks for the fast reply. i assume i will be banned. but was unsure if it is an immediate ban? or will it take a few hours or days or even weeks?

If you have RGH hardware, then i would dump the nand, and create a new retail image, as long as you have clean secdata in the nand, then the likeliness of being banned goes down by about 90%.

Gavin pointed you in the right direction. Rebuild a fresh stock nand, flash dvd drive back to stock, and make sure to remove any homebrew game saves and such from your hdd or internal memory.

thank you everyone for your replys. most updates were done via new games with dashboard updates. others were done via usb flash drive. not sure how to do some of the things mentioned. dont think it really matters anyways cause i dont have the RGH hardware. but i bit the bullet and setup a live account and was able to download the games my daughter wanted. i did unplug my xbox after the downloads finished. doubt it will have any affect if a future ban comes my way.

personally i have several xboxes that i have updated whilst flashed without reverting to stock, and none have been banned.

this is my own experience and is not to be taken as gospel for everyone, its fully dependent on the actual discs you have booted and wether or not you have failed and ap2.5 challenges etc.

well it depends on what dashboard you are on now if you are on the newest/latest dashboard you are good but if you haven't updated in a couple years you will have to re-flash stock firmware to dvd drive and then update
