I have a X3 on my v1.0 xbox. Ive had this for a few days now and have been playing halo2 live. Up until yesterday everything has worked fine. But when i tried to sign on yesterday it said it could not connect. I did the test thing and it said that my console software/hardware may have been modified. Now I know for a fact that i have not tried to sign on live with the chip turned on. And my chip LED does NOT change colors (chip turning off and on) like some other peoples in this forum. I did however change the flubber color and the fanspeed, but this was with the chip on, on the new bios. I tried to change it back and it still wont let me sign on. Anyone have any idea.
thanks

You've been banned...you need to flash a new unbanned eeprom...but only if you are going to change your setup somehow otherwise you will just get banned again. After you update your eeprom try using your original unmodified HDD when you want to access Live

Should I do the x-clamp fix even if my xbox isn't RROD?

Would this help prevent the RROD, or maybe provoke it more? Im just curious, because if it will help it, I'll do the fix to my perfectly working xbox to make it last longer. I know this is a noobish question, but I dont want to add it until I hear that its a smart thing to do. Thanks! :D

that's kinda what I was thinkin, I figured I should get a few people's opinions before I start messing around with my motherboard.

Re: Should I do the x-clamp fix even if my xbox isn't R

I would think the answer would depend on what version you have. If you have an older 360 that's prone to it, with the 1st gen heatsinks, I would go ahead and apply the fix (and maybe even throw in some 2nd gen heatsinks). The whole RROD issue (the overheating, the warping, the solder breaking, etc) can't be very good for the system. Preventing that in the first place would only help. Now if it's a newer system which supposedly doesn't have the whole RROD issue, then I might wait it out. But this is just MY opinion.

Re: Should I do the x-clamp fix even if my xbox isn't R

well i have one of the original Arcades that came with the external memory card. It has HDMi, and defiantly has the 2nd gen heat sinks. Not sure if it's a Falcon or Jasper tho. I might just to it to be sure. I've already modded it up and don't want my hard work to be wasted. thanks for the helpful response!

Why mess with it if you're still covered under the 3 year warranty for E74 or RROD?
