Xbox Live blocked with X43 bios? + wheel issue

I got two short questions on which I cannot find an answer in readme files etc.

- does the X3 bios block accidental Xbox Live access when playing backups?
- what does the little wheel do on the X3 chip?

it prevents u from connecting to live while the chip is turned on. so, yes. and the wheel is for the lcd contrast adjustment.
